Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest lodging franchisors, has an exciting new opportunity as our Analyst, Franchise Feasibility & Investments on our Strategic Finance and Franchise Feasibility & Investments team. The Feasibility & Investments team partners with teams across the enterprise to help drive hotel development through deal analysis, market opportunity assessment, and analyzing strategic fit with Choice’s corporate goals.

In this critical role, the Analyst will support efforts to drive strategic hotel development through deal analysis, market opportunity assessment and analyzing strategic fit with Choice’s corporate goals. Analysis may include franchise contract and pipeline valuation, market and asset evaluations, franchise pricing elasticity, cash flow waterfalls, and investment analysis techniques including NPV, IRR and DCF. The position will require the candidate to effectively manage demanding projects, show enthusiasm for collaboration with other departments and be able to operate with a sense of urgency and discipline.

Your Responsibilities

Leverage internally available data to assist more senior Feasibility associates in investment analyses and valuation support for the decision-making process of our internal clients, which include Franchise Development, Franchise Operations, Finance, and Executive Management

Assist in deal value analysis including impact of market revenue opportunity, capital deployment, pricing, and other deal levers

Maintain and enhance monthly deal value reporting with guidance and supervision

Assess the feasibility of new hotel franchise projects through market and asset evaluation to ensure strategic and financial fit with guidance and supervision

Develop materials for management review to support the presentation of strategic development efforts toward corporate goal achievement

Assist in maintaining pipeline planning, reporting, and valuation

Facilitate feedback to internal stakeholders on market opportunity and asset evaluations

Assess the feasibility of new hotel franchise projects through market and asset evaluation to ensure strategic and financial fit with guidance and supervision

Develop materials for management review to support the presentation of strategic development efforts toward corporate goal achievement

Assist in maintaining pipeline planning, reporting, and valuation

Facilitate feedback to internal stakeholders on market opportunity and asset evaluations

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

BS Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Hospitality, or equivalent years of experience

1-2 years with financial analysis, modeling, real estate feasibility and/or investment analysis experience

Franchising or Hospitality experience a plus

Excellent financial analysis and modeling skills

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Experience with Tableau and SQL a plus

Deals well with ambiguity and has ability to build projects from the ground up

Familiarity with hotel operating statements and industry reports (e.g. Smith Travel Research) and metrics

Ability to communicate and explain complex financial issues to non-financial professionals

Strong drive for data integrity, strategic thinking and translating data into business insights

Results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency

Ability to perform in high pressure environment

Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills

Self-starter mentality, ability to work independently, and motivation to learn new techniques, skills, and knowledge

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Manager, Franchise Feasibility & Investments. You will have 2 peer teammates and collaborate with cross functional departments on a regular basis.

As our, Analyst, Franchise Feasibility & Investments, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art worldwide corporate headquarters in North Bethesda, MD. Less than 15 miles from Washington, DC, we’re located one block away from the North Bethesda Metro station, with service on the Red Line and the MARC Brunswick line, easy access to I-270, and plenty of free parking provided by Choice Hotels.

Right now, our associates in corporate headquarters are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtual from your home office the remaining days.
