Junior Buyer

Job Description

Summary: This position will assist the Senior Buyer. They will have ownership of the freight bills, reviewing the system for data, placing purchase orders, and possibly assist with sourcing. This will include responsibility for inventory levels and On-Time shipments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties/cross training may be assigned):

Procurement of required materials from approved suppliers as required by the forecast plan. Establish strategies to improve supply chain and solve shortage issues to meet the company’s overall growth plan.

Expedite purchase orders as necessary. Identify actual and potential delivery problems and take proactive steps to inform appropriate personnel. Review Open PO details. Work with freight forwarders to confirm Estimated Arrival Date/Time.

Establish and maintain relations with suppliers and appropriate representatives

Maintain an awareness of materials and procurement concepts - Verify data accuracy (part numbers, BOMs, part costs) in MRP, report problems to appropriate parties.

Understand and apply MRP reports in ordering parts used in production to ensure appropriate delivery dates

Implement improvement processes to reduce inventory and non-value added work

Communicate with Marketing Product manager(s) of any changes or delays in new product introduction release dates

Work with several departments on product needs (MRO, Stock, Special components, etc)

Ensure there are zero past due POs in Operations system.

Work with Freight documents to complete Freight Bills for Month End

Review billings from freight forwarders and US Customs for accuracy of codes and charges.

Complete ISF as required.

Investigate receiving discrepancies and seeks correction or resolution from responsible party.

Will work with Senior Buyer to direct preparation of claims against responsible party when there is lost or damaged merchandise.

Participate in the regular evaluation of service providers.

Provide Freight and Duty numbers for flat percentage for Annual Standard Cost Roll

Provide internal delivery report
