Title: Aerospace Technician I
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $19.23-$25.00 Hourly (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data)

About the role: We are looking multiple Aerospace Technicians I that will support one of the following programs:
INCUS: NASA has selected Tendeg to deliver four Ka-band deployable antennas for a new Earth science mission called Investigation of Convective Updrafts (INCUS) that will study the behavior of tropical storms and thunderstorms, including their impacts on weather and climate models. to-study-storms-impacts-on-climate-models
2-axis Gimbal Antennas: Tendeg has multiple contracts to develop, fabricate, test and deliver flight units for deployable high gain antennas from X-band to Q/V-band. These are for sensor and communication missions for LEO, MEO and lunar applications.
Perimeter Truss Reflectors: Tendeg has multiple contracts to deliver large aperture antennas for GEO communications, SAR, and national security missions.
What you'll do:
Read, understand, and execute work instructions to build mechanical assemblies.
Assemble and verify precision tooling and spaceflight hardware using metrology equipment such as laser trackers and scanners.
Build assemblies for flight with the use of small diameter string and precision tensioning techniques.
Handle and tie small knots with strand ranging from 0.008” – 0.032” in diameter.
Mix and apply two-part structural adhesives to assemblies.
Perform fine detail mechanical assembly for spaceflight with delicate parts.
Communicate with engineers and the production team to status work progress, confirm priorities, and keep work moving to schedule.
Provide feedback for product and process improvements.
Verify final built configuration of assemblies’ match engineering detailed in the work instructions and assembly drawing.
Identify non-conforming parts encountered during the build process through notification to supervisor, engineering, and/or quality.
Take ownership and maintain build documentation for assemblies being built. Including filling out work instructions, non-conformance reports and logging time against the applicable work order.
Be willing to cross train in multiple areas of specialty.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Key job requirements:
0-5 years of experience, preferably in mechanical assembly.
High School Diploma/GED
Desired Experience
Experience performing light mechanical assembly is a plus
Aerospace related experience/education is favorable but not required
Technical writing skills preferred
Preferred experience with calibrated tools and equipment
Ability to read and work to engineering documentation
Excellent manual dexterity, ability to handle small parts
Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities
Familiarity with small tools used for handheld assembly
High standard of workmanship is a must
