DATA ENTRY TECHNICIAN Position Summary: Supports the Lead Technician and/or Supervisor with administrative duties in order to increase accuracy and integrity of the laboratory results being emitted by the Laboratory Technicians. Serves as the pivot point for the flow of written, telephonic and observed data on a given shift. This data may be in the form of received samples, laboratory work orders, emails, communications from Operations Department and many more. Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities: As instructed by the Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Supervisor, or Lead Technician and under the strict guidelines described in the quality manuals: 1. Receives samples according to CCC procedures; including reviewing sample tags for correctness, signing Chain of Custody documents, reviewing Polaris work instructions, logging samples and tests into Polaris. Raises awareness to Lead Technician and/or management when observing a discrepancy. 2. Serves as the initial point of contact for the laboratory shift on duty in regards to receiving and distributing telephone and email instructions from other CCC departments, branches, or clients in response to laboratory data. Raises awareness to Lead Technicians and/or management in order for the appropriate person to respond. 3. Reviews all laboratory work orders and raw data printouts which have been completed by Laboratory Technicians. Compares raw data printouts with observations recorded on the work orders in order to eliminate typographical errors. Analyzes the raw data to ensure correct procedures were followed (ex. Internal standard amount/counts on GC runs, FIA runs are appropriate length, correct octane PRF/TSF run, neat sample properties vs. 10% ETOH sample properties, etc.). 4. Review Daily QC sample and Round Robin data in a similar fashion as all other laboratory work orders. Ensure that Daily QC has been run for that 24-hr period. If not run on previous shift, follow through with the Lead Technician until all required QC has been run on current shift. 5. Enter laboratory data into Polaris that is correct in terms of integrity and accuracy according to CCC Quality Systems Manual and Standard Operating Procedures. Review the resulting Analytical Report for completeness. Minimum Position Requirements: Requires a High School Diploma (or equivalent). Must possess excellent computer, math and general science skills. Must have good communications skills and demonstrate ability to grasp new product information while understanding the minor differences between multiple products. Must pass pulmonary test for respirator use.
