MAU is hiring a Regulatory and Government Affairs Manager at our client in Atlanta, GA, or Metro D.C. As a Regulatory and Government Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for tracking, managing, and coordinating the affairs of the government environments within the company’s footprint. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

As the Regulatory and Government Affairs Manager, you will gather and prioritize regulatory and government issues, assist in defining the appropriate response and strategy, and work closely with innovation, legal, sales, marketing, and other company departments to meet revenue and customer satisfaction goals.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

4+ years of experience in an engineering or regulatory compliance discipline and product development expertise related to the company’s current and future product portfolio

Experience with AHRI and similar industry associations

Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D software

Experience developing products via New Product Development Process (Stage Gate)

Proven experience in regulatory and product performance mattersGeneral Requirements

Understand the intent of regulations to wisely navigate the discrepancies that exist in the application of each set of rules to combination products

Ensure decisions work well throughout the lifecycle of the products and set appropriate precedents for future products and projects

Open issues tracking to resolution

Excellent attention to detail

Well-developed and thorough understanding of analytics, problem-solving tools, and quality improvement tools and techniques

Strong communication skills to educate personnel on compliance best practices

Effective organizational abilities to effectively manage time and work activities

Ability to evaluate potential risks and ways to minimize them

Ability to use Microsoft Office applications to communicate quality data

Ability to communicate efficiently through written and verbal skills

Participate in AHRI committees and associational “Capitol Hill Days”

Ability to exercise appropriate discretion when working with confidential and sensitive matters and information

Ability to work professionally and positively with various levels of employees, customers, and business partners

Strong commitment to achieving business goals

High level of personal integrity, honesty, and commitment

Ability to respond to high sense of urgency situations and produce fast but accurate resultsPreferred Requirements

Experience with mechanical systems or water heating product design and applicationEssential Functions

Maintain a deep understanding of new and existing regulations that may impact the organization’s products and processes

Use that understanding to assist in standardizing all business operations and establish clear, documented protocols

Explain regulations, procedures, and policies to all employees and stakeholders as necessary

Participate in associational memberships and governmental interactions

Review marketing, legal, and technical documentation, including case files and clinical research reports, to assess compliance

Recommend courses of remediation to help their company achieve the necessary levels of compliance

Monitor, aggregate, and maintain issue, regulatory, and legislative logs and charts for use by the Regulatory Government Affairs (“RGA”) Committee of the Company

Regulatory reporting on compliance status and measures to both internal and external parties

Coordinate activities of company leadership and RGA Committee

Act as a liaison between the company and state, local, federal, and international agencies, associations, and other organizations as necessary

Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant government agencies, industry associations, and policymakers

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the water heater industry

Represent the company in industry forums and participate in advocacy efforts to shape favorable policies

Analyze proposed regulations and legislation to assess potential impacts on the company

Develop and implement advocacy strategies to positively influence regulatory and legislative outcomes

Collaborate with internal teams to communicate the company’s position on key policy issues

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, engineering, and innovation/product development, to ensure a unified approach to regulatory compliance

Guide internal teams on regulatory requirements affecting production design and development
