Job Summary:
This position will work with the EducationUSA programs.
Through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of
Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the Education USA Iran Virtual Advisor
provides comprehensive and current information on the full-range of accredited
U.S. colleges and universities and guidance via virtual platforms to qualified
Iranian students on how to best access opportunities to study in the United
States. The Advisor communicates with U.S. higher education professionals to
promote Iranian student enrollment at U.S. institutions of higher education.
Job Requirements:
Essential Functions:
• Maximizes use of virtual platforms to provide guidance to
prospective Iranian students interested in pursuing studies in the United
States. Provides one-on-one and group advising via email, online discussion
forums and web chats. Ensures timely and accurate responses to all advising
inquiry types related to U.S. education. Responds to inquiries from the U.S.
higher education community about Iranian educational system and institutions,
and questions relating to recruitment and admission of Iranian students.
• Develops relevant content for the Education USA Iran
website, email newsletters, podcasts, and social media to promote U.S. higher
education to Iranian students. Manages specialized external website by updating
with new webinars, improved registration interface, survey tools and
troubleshooting basic technical issues for Iranian students.
• Presents at higher education conferences providing insight
into the Iranian higher education system and collegiate community.
• Maintains program database and provides data for program
reports to sponsor. Researches and produces reports, as requested by the
sponsor.
• Carries out daily management of the virtual advising
center to ensure efficient and effective delivery of content to the public.
Education and Work Experience:
• Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of
related work experience, or combination education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Fluency in English and Farsi required.
• Experience in projects and tasks involving complex details
which require well-developed organizational, time-management and administrative
skills.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and
communication skills, both oral and written (English and Farsi).
• Ability to read and interpret documents, present to
external audiences, and write reports and correspondence.
• Ability to interact with all levels of team members and
external contacts; sensitive to cultural differences when working with people
from other cultures.
• Ability to exercise discretion on confidential matters and
to demonstrate sound judgment in consulting with and keeping others informed.
• Ability to easily adapt to changing organizational needs
and a fast-paced work environment; work independently without close supervision
and as part of a team.
• High level of job-focused multi-tasking skills and ability
to perform under pressure of deadlines.
• Ability to compare and evaluate possible courses of action
and recommend or decide appropriate course of action.
• Familiarity with web-based, content management systems,
virtual knowledge sharing platforms such as discussion forums, virtual
classrooms, podcasts, and webinars.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including
Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must have strong editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and
internationally independently.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary Range: $55,043 - $63,987. A candidate’s salary is
determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work
experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational
equity, and geographic region.
