Job Summary:

CNPC USA is actively seeking creative, innovative, best-in-class experts to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer with down-hole tool development experience. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will perform engineering duties within the established product development process following industry standards and best practices, conduct calculations for engineering problems and material selection.

This position reports to the R&D Manager of Drilling products.

Responsibilities:

Designs and develops down-hole drilling tools through review and analysis of competitive landscaping, customer specifications, operational requirements, task statements, standards, and other documentation(s).

Works closely with engineering, testing, supply chain, vendors and partners to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and optimum specifications for new or existing components.

Develops testing programs to confirm design concepts and implementations that can meet functional and performance specifications.

Performs failure and root cause analysis and implements solutions of prototypes to continuously improve product performance.

Creates and maintains engineering standards/documents to include material specs, QC specs, and operating procedures.

Prepare and communicate project status to customer and management.

Conducts all business activities in agreement with CNPC USA core values.

Performs other projects and/or duties as assigned.

Key Skills:

Extensive experience and knowledge in design and development of down-hole components, mechanisms and drilling tools.

Hands-on experience in developing down-hole mechanical, electro-mechanical and hydraulic actuations.

Experience in New product development of Reamer and/or (RSS) Rotary Steerable System(s) is strongly recommended.

Proven skills in modeling in Creo and/or SolidWorks.

Knowledge of PDC bit, and down-hole reamer, is a plus.

Proven ability to deliver on time, on target, with quality and sustainability.

Good interpersonal skills and communication.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree, required.

Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or related field is strongly preferred; with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in down-hole tool development.

Legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Travel:

This position may require international and domestic travel. Travel between all CNPC USA locations and testing facilities is required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
