What we are looking for:

We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and safe Diesel Test Mechanic/Technician to troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and test drive prototype heavy duty commercial vehicles for a manufacturer and marketer of medium and heavy trucks in Greensboro, NC

Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough mechanical inspections and diagnose issues on vehicles designated for testing purposes.

Perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks, including but not limited to engine overhauls, truck instrumentation, suspension work, and steering adjustments.

Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems issues in vehicles, ensuring optimal functionality.

Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities carried out on test vehicles.

Drive vehicles during testing procedures while adhering strictly to safety protocols and guidelines.

Monitor vehicle performance throughout testing, promptly reporting any issues or irregularities to the appropriate personnel.

Ensure the safe operation of vehicles during testing, including strict adherence to traffic laws and regulations.

Collaborate closely with other team members to streamline and enhance testing procedures.

Occasional travel, ranging from 25% to 50%, may be required for testing at various locations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.

Proven track record of at least 3 years of experience as a mechanic in a testing or automotive environment.

Minimum of 5 years of driving experience, with a clean driving record.

Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) for operating 53-foot tractor-trailers.

Comprehensive understanding of vehicle mechanics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.

Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in Class 8 vehicles.

Prior experience in a truck dealership environment is a plus.

Proficiency in documenting testing procedures and results with precision and clarity.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective team collaboration.

Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and testing procedures.

Physical, Safety and Environmental Job Requirements

Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving items of up to 50 lbs and more

Ability to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levels

The environment may be dusty, noisy and open to interior temperature changes
