Position Title: Welder

Department: Fabrication Shop

Reports To: Fabrication Manager

Job Summary: The Welder performs various welding activities within the fabrication shop, ensuring that all fabricated items meet the required specifications and quality standards. This role requires high technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Welding Operations:

Perform welding tasks based on project specifications, using appropriate welding techniques (e.g., MIG, Stick, etc.).

Interpret blueprints and drawings to understand the welding requirements.

Ensure welds meet quality standards and are conducted according to safety regulations.

Fabrication Support:

Assist in the fabrication of various metal structures and components.

Cut, prepare, and fit materials for welding.

Quality Assurance:

Inspect finished welds to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards.

Report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment.

Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and report malfunctions.

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed during welding operations.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure timely completion of projects.

Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding project status and challenges.

Must be willing and able to travel out of town and state to work on job sites.

Requirements

Transportation skills, excellent driving record

Customer and Personal Service skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience related to mechanics, electronics, or hydraulic systems

Related experience: truck-mounted hydraulic utility equipment such as aerial devices, chippers, cranes, and specialty equipment; construction, mining, or farm equipment such as dozers or tractors;

Overtime may be required.

Able to develop the skills necessary to complete support duties using the tablet provided

Physical effort is required to move objects and service-related tools that may weigh up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling are required to service and repair equipment.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English

Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices

Valid Driver’s License

High School diploma or equivalentQualifications

Proven experience as a welder, with a focus on fabrication.

Relevant welding certifications (e.g., AWS certification).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding diagrams.

Strong understanding of metallurgy and welding techniques.

Commitment to safety standards and procedures.

Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy equipment and materials.
