Analyst / Associate, Opportunistic Corporate Credit (London)

MCAP Global Finance (UK) LLP, the UK affiliate of New York based global asset manager Marathon Asset Management L.P.

Marathon Asset Management is a market and cycle-tested global alternative credit manager founded in 1998 by Bruce Richards (Chief Executive Officer) and Louis Hanover (Chief Investment Officer). The firm manages approximately $22 billion in assets under management across the corporate, real estate, structured credit and asset-based credit markets. Marathon’s team is fully integrated to capitalise on credit opportunities globally in both the public and private credit markets, with its headquarters in New York and offices in London, Luxembourg, Miami and Los Angeles. We currently have a need for an Opportunistic Corporate Credit analyst. The individual will be an integral part of the Opportunistic Credit investment team in London.

Responsibilities

Support team in identifying, analysing and executing credit investments across the capital structure in a variety of industries and geographies in opportunistic credit (public and private)

Participate in all stages of the investment process including

Prepare detailed investment committee memorandums

Build and maintain detailed financial models

Perform extensive due diligence

Conduct industry deep dives

Work with third party advisors

Review legal documentation

Present opportunities to senior investment professionals and investment committee

Participate in frequent calls with key management executives, industry experts, law firms, operational and balance sheet restructuring advisers, and sell-side/buy-side network to continually evaluate business strategy and company outlook

Actively monitor performance of existing portfolio companies and stay current with relevant industry trends

Qualifications

Required education: BA or BSc degree

1-3 years of experience; investment banking, leveraged finance or advisory experience.

Experience in financial statement analysis, good understanding of how to read company financial reports, credit documentation experience a plus

Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills, plus good oral and written communication skills

Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Highly motivated, disciplined, responsible personality with attention to detail, high energy level and strong work ethic
