Job Summary
We are seeking a Telecommunications Technician to join our team! As a Telecommunications Technician, you will be installing new telecommunications systems, repairing existing telecommunications systems, and upgrading outdated equipment and systems. You will also be troubleshooting systems that are having trouble, running diagnostic tests, ordering replacement components, and ensuring every system you touch is working properly. The ideal candidate has experience with telecommunications equipment, excellent communication skills, and enjoys problem-solving complex issues.
Responsibilities
Install new telecommunications equipment for customers
Troubleshoot existing equipment that isn’t working, run diagnostic tests, and fix any problems that arise
Upgrade outdated equipment
Walk the customer through any new or updated equipment to ensure everyone knows how to use it properly
Checking all network and phone wiring, repairing and installation of network cables and outlets
Evaluating customers needs and installing telecommunications systems that best meet those needs
Running routine tests on telecommunications systems to ensure that all components are functioning at optimal levels
Performing diagnostic testing on problematic telecomunication systems to identify and resolve various technical faults
Performing temporary fixes until extensive repair work can be done at a later date
Investigating and resolving customers complaints in a timely manner
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Completion of a postsecondary education program in telecommunications, telecommunications technology, computer science or a related field
Proven experience working as a telecommunications technician
Sound knowledge of telecommunications systems
Knowledge of networking cable installation and termination
The ability to interpret technical manuals and schematic designs
The ability to work well under pressure
Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills
Exceptional communication and customer service skills
Reliable vehicle for transportation to and from customer service ticket locations
