Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and optimal performance of our machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and related systems. Your expertise will be essential in minimizing downtime, maximizing productivity, and maintaining the overall efficiency of our manufacturing processes.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment, including molding machines, peripheral equipment, compressors, dryers, and general building equipment.

Assist in troubleshooting and resolving machinery and facility problems.

Read and understand operational information, instructions, timing charts, and flow charts to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.

Utilize meters to measure voltage, temperature, current, and air flow.

Repair electrical and hydraulic systems using knowledge of fundamental parts, fittings, components, and functions.

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues using appropriate tools and instruments.

Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status.

Provide technical support and guidance to production staff regarding equipment operation and maintenance.

Stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in maintenance and repair.

Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.

Support continuous improvement efforts by actively participating in problem-solving and process optimization initiatives.

Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance and repairs.

Assist in the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.

Conduct equipment performance tests and adjustments to ensure optimal operation.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and robotic issues using appropriate tools and instruments.

Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and the ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.

Experience with preventive maintenance practices, including inspections, lubrication, and calibration.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve equipment breakdowns quickly.

Understanding of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and vendors.

Detail-oriented and organized, with strong record-keeping abilities.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Proficiency in operating a wide variety of hand tools.

Ability to work in a just-in-time production environment and under pressure.

Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with affected departments or personnel.

Knowledge and use of various measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers.

General building maintenance knowledge including plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC experience.

Familiarity with temperature controls and other types of control devices.

Ability to set up, adjust, and troubleshoot problems.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, robotics, or related fields is preferred.

Proven experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably in injection molding.

Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, robotic systems, electrical components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and auxiliary equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking during an 8 hours shift.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
