Team Jtec is looking for an Automation Engineer.

Summary/Objective

The Automation Engineer II develops and designs machines and machine controls for autonomous applications. Collaborates with engineering and sales team members concerning technology and application needs in various stages of the design of autonomous products and systems. Specifies and develops electrical and software controls and components of a machine or machine system. Develops proper documentation outlining the engineering controls information for a machine or machine system.

Duties and responsibilities

Develops and designs complete automation control systems.

Designs AC and DC electrical circuits for electrical and mechanical equipment.

Reviews circuit design for compliance with engineering principles, industry standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.

Performs analyses or testing of electrical and safety systems using relevant industry standards.

Works with mechanical engineers to specify electrical components and component layouts in equipment designs.

Understands mechanical equipment functionality and pneumatic systems.

Understands pricing of new electrical components, and searches for and discusses design projects with suppliers.

Prepares and publishes electrical schematics for designed circuits or components.

Understands IT infrastructure and integration, as it relates to installation of machines or machine systems.

Develops and designs software controls, including programming and integration as required.

Reads, writes, and troubleshoots PLC code to develop machine controls and/or optimize machine performance.

Creates visual displays for the purposes of user interfaces or system monitoring.

Supports customer phone support to include infrequent emergency after-hours customer remote support up to approximately 5% per year.

Completes other jobs or duties as directed by the R&D Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.

Experience with electrical/electronic component and automation design and development.

Experience with programmable logic controllers; structured text coding experience preferred.

CREO and/or Windchill experience preferred.

Technology

Windows PC proficiency

Microsoft Office Suite

Proficiency with a digital multimeter; proficiency with oscilloscope preferred.

Proficiency preferred in one or more industry standard PLC platforms, and ladder logic.

Network Communications Technology - a solid understanding of internet, intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.
