This position is for our hotel restaurant.
The Sous Chef prepares food as directed by the Executive Chef, cooking food to order in a timely manner and issues to servers as ordered, based on details provided by recipe cards to ensure menu plate consistency, i.e., Preparation, portioning, and garnishing of foods.

$18 hourlyResponsibilities:
In the absence of the Executive Chef / Executive Sous Chef or in harmony, hire, train, direct, and supervise kitchen employees
Meet with the Executive Chef to go over daily production
Delegate duties to kitchen staff at shift line-ups to accomplish common goals
Comply with the standards of the kitchen to ensure consistent quality and portion control
Provide menu suggestions to the Executive Chef
Maintain cleanliness and organization in all F&B back-of-the-house areas
Support Executive chef in monitoring and adjusting schedules to ensure efficient use of employees
Train new hires and provide continual training sessions for veteran staff
Ensure employee uniform dress and personal presentation is in order upon arrival to work
Oversee kitchen staff with completion of side work while managing daily checklist
Conduct a physical inspection of all kitchen and line areas to ensure proper preparations
Assist the Executive Chef with administrative or physical work
Assist the Executive Chef with food inventory
Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Strong organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to use logic or rational thinking to resolve issues
Ability to perform basic mathematical skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
At least one (1) year of experience with Culinary Cooking or Culinary Supervisory, is preferred
Maintain a ServSafe certificate
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to grasp, lift overhead, and/or carry 60 lbs. maximum
Ability to perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting, and grasping
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
