Server Admin Security Operations Center

Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Server Administrator to join our IT operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in server administration, a deep understanding of various server technologies, and a passion for maintaining a secure and efficient IT infrastructure. As a Server Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our organisation's servers and systems

Responsibilities

● Deploy and configure new servers, both physical and virtual, according to established standards and best practices.

● Install and maintain operating systems, software, and applications on servers.

● Monitor server performance, resource utilization, and system logs to identify and address performance bottlenecks or issues.

● Implement and maintain server security measures, including firewall configurations, intrusion detection systems, and regular security patches and updates

● Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential risks

● Perform routine backups and ensure data integrity, as well as periodic recovery drills

● Plan and execute server hardware and software upgrades, patches, and updates while minimizing downtime and disruptions.

● Maintain comprehensive documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

● Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network administrators, application developers, and IT support, to ensure seamless server operation.

Eligibility

● Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

● Proven experience (1+ years) in server administration, with a strong track record of managing diverse server environments.

● Proficiency in server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, etc.) and server technologies (DNS, DHCP, etc.).

● Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).

● Knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, and network protocols.

● Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, etc.) for automation and task scripting.

● Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

● Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.

Desired Eligibility

● Familiarity with server hardware components, RAID configurations, and troubleshooting hardware-related issues.

● Experience with backup and disaster recovery strategies, including setting up backup schedules, data restoration procedures, and testing recovery scenarios.

● A commitment to staying updated on industry trends, certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, MCSA, RHCSA), and attending relevant training to enhance skills and knowledge.

● Familiarity with security hardening techniques and software.

Travel

As and when required, across the country for project execution and monitoring as well as for coordination with geographically distributed teams.
