Role:

Substantial design and drafting experience in the relevant discipline with exposure to any industrial domain, preferably water treatment, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.

Responsible for additional project engineering aspects, as assigned by a Project Engineer or Project Engineering Manager, including but not limited to: field instrumentation, camera and security subsystem design and network design.

Learns and develops knowledge of both water treatment and wastewater treatment processes.

Conducts project site visits (whether existing or new facility) to consider, witness and document conditions at the project site for both sales support and project fulfillment requirements. Must be able to review and understand existing conditions to able to develop drawings, make material selections and engineer project based on both field conditions and project requirements.

Develops a relationship with vendors to obtain and review quotes as part of the hardware selection process to (a) ensure equipment accuracy and (b) to protect the project budget.

Provides support and assistance to project team members from kickoff through startup and closeout.

Receives, interprets and incorporates the design of third-party hardware and systems into our designs.

Become familiar with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards to apply these requirements to project design efforts.

Has the ability to effectively make minor AutoCAD modifications to drawings packages. However, this role is NOT a draftspersons position. It shall be expected that all designs be drafted by a draftsperson with the Electrical Designer managing that persons efforts.

Becomes proficient using various troubleshooting tools and test equipment.

Gains familiarity with PLC and HMI/SCADA software and programming products in order to understand the basic concepts and technical aspects of PLC and SCADA development.

Provides technical support to Sales and Marketing group, assisting as needed with technical consultation, sales quotations and quotation review.

Follows-up with Sales group, post-design, regarding any lessons learned that could be used to strength future sales estimates and bidding.

Project Responsibilities:

Deliver discipline specific design and drafting services that meet the clients and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Panel Design

Designs panel hardware drawings for control and network panels based on the following: (a) what was quoted in project scope letter, (b) the requirements as defined in the Contract Documents, (c) any standardized products currently in use at the facility, and (d) the project budget.

Interpret the Contract Documents to determine installation requirements (e.g. panel sizing, interior versus exterior location, etc).

Develops the hardwired IO list using standard templates.

Panel design shall consist of a bill of materials consisting of major buyout items (e.g. enclosure, PLC hardware, network hardware) and the IO list.

Coordinates and manages the efforts of drafting group to efficiently generate AutoCAD drawings.

Generates a Panel Hardware Submittal for review and approval by Engineer and Owner on project.

Responds to and follows-up on submittal comments.

Performs basic panel checkout excluding PLC programming (e.g. hardware placement, electrical continuity, etc).

Loop Drawings

Designs loop drawings per the requirements of the Contract Documents.

Coordinates and manages the efforts of drafting group to efficiently generate AutoCAD drawings.

Generates a Loop Drawings Submittal for review and approval by Engineer and Owner on project.

Responds to and follows-up on submittal comments.

Record Documents

Upon completion of startup activities, supervises the creation of As-installed for Record documentation for Panel Drawings, Loop Drawings and Network Diagrams. Coordinate with startup team to populate information gathered during startup (e.g. field terminal numbers). Performs final quality control of the documentation and generate submittals for transmittal.

Initiate, manage and if required supervise, design and drafting assignments on projects requirements on time and within budget.

Perform discipline specific design and drafting services such as:

ensure the project scope is clear and that changes to scope comply with project change management processes;

if required, participate in studies and analyses and recommend actions;

prepare and oversee the production of engineering drawings and documentation;

ensure all drawings and documents are checked in accordance with checking procedures; and

participate in project reviews as required.

Provide technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline team and project teams, participate in peer reviews, and consult relevant resources as required.

Communicate effectively with the discipline team, clients and other project stakeholders, and make presentations as required.

If required, act as the discipline Lead on specific projects.

Proactively resolve any discrepancies between EPC and the clients requirements.

Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions; and ask for assistance if required.

Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the discipline.

Where required, prepare or assist in the preparation of project documentation such as budgets, estimates, forecasts, schedules and reports.

Tools:

Proficiency with at least one of the tools will be added advantage

Design: AutoCAD (must), SPI, COMOS, Bentley Microstation, Bentley Openplant
