IT Systems Sr. Engineer - Linux & Storage

Description

Job Brief:

Responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting Umniah servers and delivering all services and projects in an area of responsibility that is driven by business needs and adherence to business policies and procedures to comply with the agreed SLAs.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage, support, and maintain Linux installed systems.

Install, upgrade, and maintain Linux based systems.

Troubleshoot problems with Linux servers, running various versions of Linux, including Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu.

Ensure security of Linux based systems and data.

Manage Linux based system backups, restore, and recovery.

Manage user accounts, groups, and services, Manage, and maintain storage, and provide support on all Linux applications and UNIX based applications.

Manage, support, and maintain SAN storage,

Provide storage provisioning for SAN system including zooning.

Install and maintain servers.

Maintain server security.

Periodic Hardware & Software Inventory.

Working Environment: 70% Office 30% Field.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related field.

Level Of Experience:

Intermediate Experience in a related field.

Essential:

Certifications & Licensure:

LINUX Certifications

Kubernetes Certification

Network Essentials (CCNA, Load Balancer)

Hardware (Servers, SAN, NAS Storage)

Desirable:

CISCO CCNA Certification.

Backup Certifications.

Cloud Technology Certification.

Security Fundamentals Certification.

Tools & Systems

Essential:

Linux OS tools.

OS Clustering & High Availability tools.

Servers Security Solutions.

Backup Solutions such as Commvault, Veritas, Data Protector

Open Shift tools.

Desirable:

Database tools.

Networking tools.

Network Security tools such as Vulnerability Assessment tools.

Essential:

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

2+ years of Linux System Administration experience.

Experience with Linux system architecture.

Experience with Linux-based VPN clients, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, filesystems, and authentication.

Experience in Kubernetes System Administration.

Experience in Open Shift System Administration.

Experience with SAN Storage.

Good knowledge of deployment/system implementation, operations environment maintenance, and disaster recovery.

Good knowledge of high availability and service failure resiliency.

Good knowledge of asset management.

Good knowledge of virtualization and cloudification.

Desirable:

Good knowledge of database technologies.

Good knowledge of business continuity and contingency planning, security policies and procedures, and new technologies assessment.
