Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment and systems to enable optimized production efficiency while maintaining focus on cost efficient solutions, sustaining high quality product results, and enabling design for manufacturability in new designs. Provide guidance and support for solving complex technical problems that arise in manufacturing production. Coordinate the orderly transition and installation of new processes and/or methods in accordance with product specifications with a Lean Manufacturing approach.

QUALITY

Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford’s Management System

Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement

OPERATIONS

To estimate set-up time/cycle time

Product property set-up

Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products

Create BOMs and routings for newly released Part Numbers and revise BOMs and routings when processes are updated and/or Lean Manufacturing efforts create increased efficiency of the manufacturing steps

ECN / PCN implementation and notification to related functions

Design and develop manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems at the plant level to improve process capability, quality and manufacturing readiness

Design, develop, test, source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for new or improved manufacturing methods

Identify and develop collaborative solutions for issues within the production workflow such as level loading, production bottlenecks, machine reliability, general production related work flow waste

Resolve issues and oversee identified projects to shape manufacturing success

Prepare or direct the preparation of Model facility and/or equipment layout and detail drawings in CAD Engineering software

Authorised to raise Zero Defect, RADAR, Stop Work Authority, Improvement Forms

Authorised to use JDE, release drawing and MRP review

Providing technical guidance for manufacturing activities

Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls

Layout management

Support the Quoting process and Order Management process by supplying pertinent information as required

Write procedures and reports

Responsible to carry out any other task as advised by the supervisor or top management from time to time

COMMUNICATION

Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external

Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports

Collaborate with Engineering department in order to ensure all items (upper level and sub levels) of BOM is entered into Windchill.

Collaborate with Purchasing, Category Management and Manufacturing to simulate and assign the manufacturing COGS to parts/product, ensuring accuracy before finalizing.

Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to develop, innovate and implement manufacturing technology best practices.

FINANCIAL

All employees have an accountability to the organisation to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses

Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure

Prepare feasibility studies and thorough cost justification for projects

Monitor production output and collaborate to implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Qualifications

REQUIRED

Bachelors Degree in Engineering with Manufacturing Engineering preferred from an Accredited University

Ability to implement SPCPC skills including AutoCAD, CREO (Mechanical Desktop a plus) NC Programming Software

Knowledge of machine design, welding processes and special processes (coating, grinding, elastomer mfg, painting, bonding, etc.).

Strong team leadership skills, be a self-starter, innovative and able to work with little or no supervision

Ability to implement SPC

PC skills including AutoCAD, CREO (Mechanical Desktop a plus) NC Programming Software

MS Office suite software.

PREFERRED

Minimum 6 to 8 years experience in a manufacturing environment

Lean Manufacturing experience, or Lean Green Belt/Black Belt certification

Oil & Gas manufacturing experience

Understanding of GD+T and dimensioning
