The Primary Care Clinic Assistant is responsible for performing clerical support and environmental activities using current technology under the direction and supervision of RN. Enhances the ambulatory clinic flow with effective clerical and environmental support of clinical staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the patients’ medical records and charts; including obtaining vaccine records, administering screening tools, scoring and inputting data into chart, as directed. Ensures accuracy of all patient information. Adheres to all HIPAA guidelines, maintains patient confidentiality.• Coordinate communications and clinic processes related to clerical support and environmental activities on the unit. Responsible for various administrative and clerical tasks; answering phones, scheduling, filing, purging. Accurately transcribes and communicates results, requests for refills or other clinical information to clinical staff as directed.• Maintains a clean, safe, organized space. Maintains office supplies and ensures supply stock.• Works collaboratively and effectively with all levels of internal staff and as a member of a team. Participates in unit process improvement initiatives. Actively seeks out further education and learning opportunities.• Assist Patient Access Rep with duties as assigned. May flex into Ambulatory Patient Access Rep role as directed.

Qualifications

Education:

High School graduate or equivalent. Successful completion of an approved unit coordinator/clerk course or demonstration of equivalent competence.

Certifications:

CPR, BLS preferred.

Skills:

Computer skills required. Ability to navigate most current technology systems.

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

Strong customer service skills required.

Experience:

Previous health care experience preferred.
