System Operator
Operations Centre
The System Operator works on shifts and is mainly responsible for performing control and monitoring tasks on both Power Generation and Grid Operation systems to ensure continuous supply of electricity.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinate’s system activities during critical alarms, emergencies or shutdowns Responding to customers' enquiries and issues.
Performs switching procedures for planned outages.
Responsibilities also involve performance evaluation, testing and commissioning of modified or new control systems.
Communicate effectively with both Power Generation and Grid Operations operational personnel.
Provide guidance and on-the-job training to team members.

Education and Experience
College degree or certificate in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
Excellent observational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Technical DSO (Distribution Systems Operations) Certificate
First-Aid Certificate
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of Energy Supply policies and procedures
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and of BELCO’ s applicable systems
Working knowledge of Health & Safety, Environmental Management, and Quality Management systems processes and procedures
Familiarity with basic physics (an asset)
Interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with individuals and teams
Ability to use computer systems and software relevant to the job
Proven abilities in on-the-job training and coaching one-on-one
Ability to follow-through on regular and emergency assignments
