As a Database DevOps Infrastructure Engineer at Roche, you will occupy a strategic position within our international IT department, championing technological innovation in a fast-paced and agile environment. This role grants you the authority to influence and enhance our cutting-edge database platforms on a global scale, aligning with our commitment to operational excellence and efficiency.

In this elevated role, you will lead initiatives to architect, refine, and streamline our hybrid database infrastructure, ensuring they are robust and aligned with our product-centric vision. Your efforts will be central to our global operations, where database platforms play a critical role in supporting our innovative healthcare solutions.

This role is designed for a visionary leader looking to make a significant impact on the reliability and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, ensuring that our healthcare solutions are supported by the most reliable and advanced technology available.

Responsabilities:

Engages in and improves autonomously the whole lifecycle of platforms and services—from inception and design through deployment, operation and retirement by applying software engineering principles to build and manage large scale IT infrastructure products and services (both on-premises or in public cloud) optimizing:

services reliability, availability, capacity and performance and eliminating work through automation

software development and deployment by abstracting away the complexity of infrastructure providing self-service tools and APIs for developers that allow code and ship software quickly.

Designs, implements and maintains CI/CD pipelines, enabling developers to easily build, test, and deploy their applications.

Ensures IT infrastructure services reach and maintain the agreed service level indicators (SLIs), objectives (SLOs), agreements (SLAs) in compliance with QA requirements.

Responsible for availability, tuning, performance, efficiency, change and configuration management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.

Ensures implemented solutions and components comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable.

Implements cost, compliance and security best practices, ensuring that platforms and services meet the corresponding requirements

Partner and collaborate with developers, Managed Services suppliers, other teams and vendors to:

continuously improve application development velocity

optimize services reliability, availability and performance

Works closely with development teams to ensure that new features and changes are rolled out with reliability in mind bringing a broader and more strategic understanding of reliability that spans multiple facets of development.

Act as an analyst by transforming complex customers and developers needs into specific technical requirements to be implemented by the product team or by other teams.

Who you are:

8-11 years of relevant work experience or 6-9 years with Bachelor’s degree or 3-6 years with Masters degree

Strong hands-on technical skills in automation, infrastructure as code, logging, monitoring and observability, infrastructure configuration, scripting languages and applications.

Extensive use of infrastructure automation tools, infrastructure as code, scripting languages, logging, monitoring and observability, infrastructure configuration, and applications.

Wide experience working with Infrastructure systems internals, their availability, administration, capacity, configuration, scalability, performance and integrations.

Experience applying Software Engineering principles, automated testing and CI/CD tools to:

define technical computing infrastructure entirely under the control of software with no operator or human intervention.

implement and maintain Internal Developers Platforms (IDPs) that enables seamless software development and deployment.

develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines enabling developers to easily build, test, and deploy their applications.

Experience working according to DevOps principles, processes and tools

Your technology skills:

Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in both open-source solutions (such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS Aurora) and noSQL technologies (including MongoDB, GraphDB, DocumentDB, Azure CosmosDB).

Infrastructure as code: AWX, Ansible, Jenkins, Rundeck, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack or equivalents.

Coding and scripting: PHP, Python, YAML, shell, Perl and/or Ruby or equivalents.

Distributed version control and source code management tools: GIT, bitbucket, github, gitlab or equivalents.

Monitoring and observability (e.g. LogicMonitor, Nagios, Ganglia, ELK).

Test automation tools: TestInfra, Molecule, InSpec or equivalentsCloud native infrastructure: containerization, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Kustomize, Terraform, Pulumi, public cloud cloud-native frameworks.

Ability to work across multiple time zones, including on-call and occasionally travel.
