SALARY: Starting at $60, 770 (commensurate with experience)

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for installing and maintaining Orange County Property Appraiser Hybrid Network Infrastructure and assisting in the identification and resolution of problems which may arise during normal operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties of the System & Cloud Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Azure cloud infrastructures using best practices.

Responsible for administering and managing Microsoft 365 applications and services.

Monitor and maintain the performance, availability, and security of Azure infrastructure.

Design and provision cloud networking, VPN, firewalls, DNS, etc.

Maintain on-premises and Azure Active Directory domains

Identify and resolve complex problems and conduct a root cause analysis to increase systems stability.

Secure information systems enforcing organization security and privacy policies and procedures.

Maintain hardware and software inventory.

Research and evaluate new products and services.

Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.

Prepare and maintain system documentation, standard policies, and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct reports.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Years of experience: Must have four (4) years of experience in support of a similar environment. Experience with end user support and working knowledge of on-premises and Cloud environments.

Working Experience with enterprise level applications and cloud-based services; Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 E3/E5 preferred

2+ years of experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions

Experience with networking infrastructure (LAN, WAN, VPN) and protocols (TCP/IP)

Experience scripting with Python and PowerShell

Knowledge in Microsoft SQL

Experience with some or all the following hardware and software preferred: VMWare, DELL/EMC NAS, Cisco Hyperflex, SQL Server Clusters, Windows and Linux Servers, Cohesity Backup solutions, Mimecast Spam and Archiving Solution, CISCO Switches and Routers, Checkpoint Firewalls.

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university or experience that may be deemed the equivalent of such professional education.

Substitution: (Each year of required education may be substituted by two (2) years of work experience. Each year of required work experience may be substituted by two (2) years of additional education).

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Solutions Architect, Customer Data Platform Specialty, or Azure Data Engineer Associate preferred.

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: OCPA employees may be called upon to assist other departments as needed (e.g., workload capacity, declared county emergencies, etc.).

SPECIAL PROVISIONS: While employed by the Orange County Property Appraiser, employee must not for gratis or for compensation: engage in any real estate activities such as, but not limited to, buying, selling, or acting as a broker for others; appraise property; sell OCPA computerized database information; engage in any outside computer programming or consulting.
