Lead Mechanical Engineer

Salary: $110,000 – $150,000 annual (BOE: top of the range requires strong plastics extrusion equipment experience)

The position can be housed out of a number of plants across the country, ideally in Columbus, OH where the company is headquartered. Relocation assistance is available. Sponsorship for immigration cases is unavailable. Must be able to meet travel requirement of up to 70% to company plants, primarily located in USA, and Canada.

Summary:

The Engineering Lead is responsible for successfully implementing/supporting/managing various manufacturing platforms used for production in domestic and international locations. The Engineering Lead acts as the team lead for implementing projects.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Successfully coordinate and schedule team members who are supporting various equipment projects, facility projects, and continuous improvement efforts.

Participate in emergency troubleshooting to expedite the plant's return to production.

Lead sourcing and installation of critical plant support equipment (chillers, compressors, towers, vacuum pumps, grinders, and electrical infrastructure).

Provide leadership support for equipment installations.

Participate and lead in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) problem solving and Continuous Improvement Kaizen events.

Work with the plant teams to predict, plan, and execute field rebuilds of worn equipment.

Define and execute plant support projects to satisfy internal customers (Plant Managers).

Job Skills

Plastic extrusion or injection mold experience.

Strong project management skills.

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitude.

Work autonomously and with minimal supervision.

Ability to analyze risks and develop mitigation reports.

Familiarity with lean processes and continuous improvement tools.

Strong verbal and written communication.

Proficient in AutoCAD.

Ability to work within a team environment.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Preferred

2-4 years Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plastics acceptable with experience.

Equivalent experience

Multilingual (preferred)

Preferred Experience:

Read and write fluently in English and Spanish, as needed

At least five years in a manufacturing environment

In addition to strong mechanical knowledge and experience, electrical or mechatronics is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work within the plant climate conditions

Position requires a full range of body motion - including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting, and the ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicle

Work safely in and around plant equipment

Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in temperature extremes

Ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours

Meet travel requirement of up to 60%-70% to company plants, primarily located in USA, and Canada.
