Role Summary:

The VP, Head of Finance Transformation and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for oversight of the finance transformation and accounting systems groups, guiding the execution of key company accounting initiatives and the accounting-related maintenance, operation, and improvement of the Yardi ERP system.

What you’ll be working on day to day:

Finance Transformation

Oversee execution of ongoing multiple finance transformation initiatives.

Manage and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify project scope, timeline, requirements, and deliverables.

Manage project risks, issues, and change requests; proactively identify potential issues and recommend solutions.

Communicate project status, issues, and risks to team members, management, and stakeholders.

Maintain strong relationships with team members and stakeholders.

Continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve finance transformation processes and methodologies.

Yardi Systems Management

Ensure that the monthly accounting consolidation process runs smoothly, and troubleshoot any issues encountered in that regard.

Oversee the management of GL accounts, charge codes, account trees, segment validation rules, currency rules, system attributes, lookup lists, property acquisitions and Investment Management (IM) entities in Yardi.

As necessary, work with Yardi representatives on the creation and resolution of system cases/issues.

Lead Accounting system implementations, including merger and international expansions.

Coordinate system upgrades with the IT Department, including data validation and testing, as necessar

Project Management

Work to ensure the company’s portfolio of projects and process improvements are in alignment with company business strategies and technology strategies/standardization.

Act as a champion for agile methodologies, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the Accounting Department.

Ensure the Accounting Department is supported in the day-to-day management of projects, including risk management, issue management, resource management, scope management, stakeholder communications, process improvements, change management, and management of dependencies/interdependencies between projects and Accounting strategic initiatives.

Create and maintain a system of measurable success criteria for each project. Baseline current process metrics and track changes beyond project completion to ensure achievement of ROI and other metrics.

Coordinate appropriate governance and Sarbanes-Oxley controls/approvals for key projects.

Organize, track and maintain project milestones, timelines, budgets and delays for each project.

Support and train accounting managers as needed to transition tasks and project implementation to other personnel.

External/Internal Audit

Assist in audits and analysis of system changes and/or finance transformation projects, as well as walk-through of internal controls.

Document accounting procedures and processes for newer systems and projects.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Significant experience in leading operational change initiatives from creative design to last-mile execution and follow-through.

Experience working in a high velocity environment, where the environment can become intense, with multiple tasks occurring simultaneously and where judgement must be exercised to assess risk expeditiously and thoughtfully.

Experience leading and managing teams of people.

Project management expertise, with the ability to motivate disparate teams to come together and meet tight deadlines.

Experience implementing technology upgrades for Real Estate accounting organizations.

Understanding of US GAAP

Experience working in the Real Estate industry, preferably in a REIT.

Must be organized, detailed, flexible, efficient, and take ownership of own work product.

Ability to engage with senior leaders to represent the portfolio of projects and defend governance practices to maintain alignment with the company's objectives and priorities.

Experience with Yardi ERP system.

Impeccable communication skills.

We expect that to possess the skills required for this role that you will bring over 10 years of relevant work experience, including around 3 of those in Public Accounting.

What you will get in return:

The base salary for this role is in the range of $177,700.00 – $258,217.00. You may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and an annual discretionary stock award, (dependent on date of hire) to be discussed during the initial phone interview. Base salary and total compensation package determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, education, skills, performance, and abilities, as well as internal equity, company performance, and alignment with market data.
