The Biomedical Equipment Technician II/III (BMET II/III) is required to perform preventive maintenance, calibration, equipment repair, and technology assessment, troubleshooting and safety inspections of medical equipment with minimal supervision. The individual should be competent in the use of all applicable test equipment and tools required in the performance of these duties. The employee plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with the equipment manufacturers instructions, the healthcare systems policies, and accepted practices.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, repair, troubleshooting, and electrical safety inspections of biomedical equipment. Physical inspections, and scheduled parts replacement according to OEM recommendations for a variety of patient care equipment including but not limited to oxygen concentrators, patient beds, ventilators, infusion pumps, defibrillators, and EKG machines.
Inform supervisors of the status of repairs, scheduled inspections, unusual equipment situations, and any customer concerns.
Documents all equipment related work in Department’s Equipment Maintenance Database, accurately and in real time
Work with, direct, and document the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery
Maintain biomedical expertise through ongoing training and education.
Assist in pre-purchase technical evaluation of medical technology.
Provide some on-the-job training to other less experienced technicians.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics Technology or a minimum of seven years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of complex medical equipment/systems
Minimum of four years experience as Biomedical Equipment Technician or equivalent
Technical Certification CBET or BMET Certified by the ICC strongly preferred
Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to diagnose, and repair equipment, including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment
Good trouble-shooting skills
Valid driver's license required; Employee may be required to drive to various off-site locations. Car allowance will be provided for use of personal vehicle.
Good communication and strong customer service skills
Ability to work independently with some supervision
Good organization and time management skills
Ability and willingness to serve "on-call" duty as required

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, job-related knowledge/skills and experience.
