**IU5's Migrant Education Program is seeking in-home teacher's aides to provide services for in-home programming from June 15 - August 31, 2024. Candidates should be available for Onboarding and In-Service June 10-14, 2024.
*Teacher's aides are not required to work for the entire timeframe of in-home programming and individual schedules can be determined based on need and availability.
Position Summary:
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit's Migrant Education Program is seeking in-home teacher aides for the summer session. The in-home teacher aides will support the in-home teacher in providing Reading, Math, and other instruction to migratory students at their homes. The in-home teacher aides will schedule in-home visits with migrant families and provide translation when necessary. The primary goal of the Migrant Education Program is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers to make a lasting impact with diverse students! The part-time, contracted position reports to the Migrant Student Support Specialists and Program Supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
Bilingual English and Spanish or Creole preferred
High School Diploma/GED
Required state clearances to work with students
Must hold a valid driver's license in the individual's state of residence
Reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with children preferred
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Schedule in-home visits between in-home teachers and their assigned migrant families
Help to reduce learning barriers where English is not the first language by interpreting for student and/or family members when needed
Accompany in-home teachers to their lessons
Support in-home teachers in providing instruction to migrant students at their homes
Accompany students during educational activities
Help in-home teachers create a learning environment appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
Maintain accurate and complete records for each student
Implement and enforce all policies and rules
Participate in required professional development
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, in-home teachers, coordinators, and supervisors
Perform other duties as assigned
Performance Factors/Job Competencies:
Ability to travel to students' homes and support in-home teachers who provide math, reading, and other instruction one-on-one and in a small group setting
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Knowledge of state and federal laws that impact the organization
Work Environment:
This job operates in student homes. Incumbent must have the ability to travel to students' homes and support in-home teachers who provide math, reading, and other instruction one-on-one and in a small group setting. Candidates are required to have reliable transportation to arrive on time to the teaching location.
