We are hiring for the following:

Position: Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Schedule: Days

Location: Arlington County Detention Center

Pay Rate: $42.00

Responsibilities:

Provide direct quality care to patients by monitoring, recording and assessing psychiatric conditions

Facilitate therapeutic communication, conflict resolution and crisis intervention by redirecting negative behaviors and helping patients regain or improve coping abilities

Quickly respond to situations impacting safety and security to patient and staff, actualizing crisis intervention skills to manage and de-escalate situations

Assess and monitor patient’s response to and effects of medications and communicate with psychiatric provider for any needed changes in treatment and Individual Treatment Plans

Respond to all codes or medical emergencies while on shift

Attempt to verify reported psychiatric medications within 48-hours or less per MEDIKO policy and obtain a bridge order to ensure continuity of care

Conduct suicide screenings while onsite and ensure daily note documented for each patient on suicide watch

Complete Medical RN duties while onsite and while not performing Psychiatric duties

Psychiatric RN to discuss clinical symptoms as well as medication education (side effects and benefits) with patient

Train new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures and safety protocols of MEDIKO and its client(s)

Schedule and administer all psychotropic injections

Create schedule for Psych NP and Psychiatrist

Complete Administrative Segregation rounds with the weekly review committee (typically on Wednesdays and includes DHS, case management, and ACSO)

Complete rounds on crisis cell inmates daily

Complete all vitals and paperwork for state hospital transfers

Serve as a liaison between DHS and Psych NP/Psychiatrist

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited registered nursing program; BSN degree preferred

Active state/commonwealth registered nursing licensure

Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved)

Minimum of one (1) year experience in an acute care setting, emergency room or correctional setting

Able to operate standard office equipment to include computer, copier, fax, and telephone, and standard medical facility equipment to include, but not limited to AED, EKG, blood pressure, oxygen, glucometer, pulse oximeter, and other medical equipment, as applicable

Proof of COVID Vaccination or weekly testing
