A leading Paper Manufacturing is looking for a Quality Head @ Sivakasi

Roles & responsibilities:

Quality Assurance of Paper and Paper Boards

Lead the Overall Quality Assurance function for the Paper and Paper Boards business right from Incoming Raw Material Inspection up to Outgoing Finished good quality.

Sound knowledge of recipe and input mix for Recycled Paper Boards and Paper manufacturing.

Ability to contribute to New Product Development through Recipe, Chemicals and Coating mix management.

Adequate exposure to Effluent Treatment plants required for Paper Mills, in terms of operation, debottlenecking, performance management and technological upgrades.

Necessary experience in managing Environmental authorities, including updated knowledge on standards for Air, Water Pollution Control requirements, functioning related equipment, de-bottlenecking and performance management.

Experience in Recycled Paper Industry will be an added advantage.

Exposure to Implementation to Total Productive Maintenance techniques will also be an added advantage.

Policy Development and Implementation:

Develop, review, and implement Quality and Environment related policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Ensure effective communication and training programs to promote understanding and adherence to Q&E policies across all levels of the organization.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to quality, safety, health, and environmental practices.

Monitor compliance with Q&E regulations and standards, conducting internal audits and coordinating external inspections as necessary.

Liaise with regulatory agencies and industry associations to ensure the organization's compliance and manage any regulatory inquiries or inspections.

Risk Management and Assessment:

Identify, assess, and prioritize Q&E risks within the organization's operations, processes, and facilities.

Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including the establishment of control measures and contingency plans.

Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential Q & E hazards and opportunities for improvement.

Incident Management and Investigation:

Lead investigations into Q&E incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Maintain thorough records of incidents, investigations, and corrective actions, ensuring timely reporting to management and relevant authorities as required.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for Q&E performance and develop monitoring systems to track progress and trends.

Prepare regular reports and presentations on Q&E performance for management review, highlighting achievements, areas for improvement, and emerging risks.

Training and Awareness Programs:

Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness and competency in Q&E practices, including Standard Operating Procedures, environmental conservation, and quality standards.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting employee engagement and participation in QSHE initiatives and programs.

Supplier and Contractor Management:

Provide Quality based inputs to evaluate the performance of suppliers (Raw Material, Chemicals, Fuels ), and contractors ( Finishing, Cutting, Packing, Loading ), establishing requirements and standards for their engagement.

Monitor and audit supplier and contractor activities to ensure compliance with Q&E requirements and contractual obligations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree Pulp and Paper technology or Chemical Engineering

Proven track record and experience (20+ years) in Quality & Environment management, compulsorily in the paper and board manufacturing industry, preferably in recycled paper business or related manufacturing sector.

In-depth knowledge of QSHE regulations, standards, and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments, root cause analyses, and incident investigations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to develop meaningful KPIs and metrics to measure Q&E performance.

Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving change initiatives.

Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high standards of quality, safety, health, and environmental responsibility.

Proficiency in Tamil language, spoken as well as written, is preferred but not necessary.
