Position Summary:

The Regional Shop Manager (RSM) reports to the Vice President of Shop Operations. The RSM is accountable for all aspects of shop fabrication, production, cost control, quality assurance /quality control, storage/warehousing/shop vehicles, tooling and deliveries throughout their Region.

Mission:

To consistently implement and maintain the Corporate Culture and Standard Operating Procedures focused on maximizing Shop Utilization across the Region. Goals shall be; best in class Shop Safety, effective & efficient tooling and material staging/handling, established material and fabrication segregation and quality checks, providing reduced labor costs through beneficial crew mix, ensure complete field support and accurate on time deliveries of fabrication, materials, tools, and equipment leading to reduced overall Project costs.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Ensure all work is done in the safest manner possible to eliminate injury or accidents in the Shops and in our vehicles.

Responsible for coordination of all Regional Shops (pipe, stainless steel, and sheet metal) for fabrication assignment and manpower needs.

Participate in Corporate Shop Meetings for resource leveling.

Accountable for Shop efficiency while maintaining the optimum crew mix to reduce labor rates.

Implementation of the most efficient processes and tooling in the shops to maximize productivity and accountability.

Attend turnover, pre-construction and P-10 meetings to understand projects and their fabrication opportunities, develop a follow up fabrication plan with PM, and understand project schedule to ensure we capture and take full advantage of fabrication opportunities.

Develop and implement master fabrication schedule to ensure Shop Foremen are aware of upcoming fabrication work and Project Managers are aware of fabrication schedules.

Collaborate with PM’s & Purchasing to create the required material releases and expediting plans.

Collaborate with the Corporate QA-QC Manager to ensure all Shop personnel remain current with all QA/QC procedures, weld certifications, continuity logs and we meet specific project NDE requirements.

Coordinate with Corporate QA/QC Manager for required Shop SOP implementation requirements.

Responsible for all Shop deliveries including drivers and Shop Order accuracy and accountability.

Responsible for proper implementation and use of Tool Tracking Program.

Ensure warehouses are set up to run efficiently without idle storage of materials or equipment.

Experience & Requirements:

Have a firm understanding of pipe and sheet metal, procurement, and assembly

Ability to work with labor unions & continually improve management relations & efficiencies

Must Have integrity, enthusiasm, and willingness to represent the company in the most professional and positive manner

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline is desirable, and or equivalent work and field experience with a minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical Shop fabrication. Technical Certification (CWI, or equivalent) is preferable.
