Position Title - Senior Instrumentation Engineer, Mining, Minerals & Metals division

Purpose:

Senior Instrumentation Engineer with design experience in refineries, petrochemical, Mining & Minerals plants. Candidate must be able to work independently, be a self-starter and have excellent communication skills and work well within the project and discipline team.

Responsibilities:

The ability to work within a team environment with a minimum of supervision and to customer, Company and Industry standards

The proven ability to oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches, plans or other design / specification data

Direct the work of junior designers and ensure the drawings are in accordance with the client requirements and relevant project specifications

Ability to travel to job sites to perform site walkdown to document as installed conditions

Provide design support on small to a medium size project.

Understand project scope and interpret design input drawings/documents to produce typical deliverables like:

Instrument Index and I/O list

Instrument datasheet

Installation details

Material Take off or Bill of Materials

Block diagrams

Junction box wiring diagrams

Instrument loop diagrams

Instrument location diagrams

Instrument Installation details

Control panel design

Power distribution and relay schematics

Cable schedules

Cable and Conduit layout & routing

Cable selections and cable routing

Instrumentation wiring details

Review and extract data from vendor packages

Experience with PLCs and DCS Preferably Emerson DeltaV, Foxboro EcoStruxure or ABBxA DCS and Modicon, GE or Rockwell PLC

Experience with the AVEVA E3D and Navisworks, participate in 3D model reviews

Experience with Fire Detection and Alarm system design is preferred.

Experience with Access Control Systems is a plus

Experience with CCTV and HVAC systems is a plus

Experience with SPI to produce Instrument Index, Datasheets, wiring and loop is preferred and not a must.

Drafting knowledge in an AutoCad and Microstation environment.

Ability to interpret Petrochemical and M&M industry standard Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

Good understanding of Canadian Electrical Code.

What you will bring

Technical and Industry Experience:

Required:

University graduate in Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering or Applied Science or related experience.

Senior level of direct Electrical design and engineering experience.

Experience working on engineering for Mining, Minerals & Metals projects.

Preferred:

P. Eng (Ontario) designation preferred or to be able to register.
