Assistant Purchasing Manager will conduct business unit’s purchasing processes to include vendor solicitation and prequalification; contract bidding, negotiation and award; vendor performance feedback and monitoring; dispute resolution; and vendor management. Responsibilities to include the following.

- Manage trades in provided responsibility area which includes: prepare bid request package/invitation and Unit Pricing Requests; review provided bids & Unit Pricing for each trade category: validate bids and takeoff quantities against plans and scope of work; negotiate price as necessary; creation of contracts in bid or takeoff formats; maintain contracts through the life of a community.

- Evaluate available Trade Partner pool in the trades under responsibility, find new trade partners in trades where necessary, set up vendor in the system.

- Update non-price components of business unit’s contracts, such as scopes of work and product revisions.

- Work closely with the Community Set Up Manager or Purchasing Manager to clarify structural options, product offerings, and scope of work that the vendor will be bidding on and performing at each community.

- Resolve vendor questions regarding bid requests and scope of work.

- Act as the point of contact for community support issues relating to purchasing issues.

- Coordinate VPO issues that affect the contracted scope of work for multiple communities.

- Set up and maintain purchasing master data information in computer system.

A bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar discipline and 1-2 years of experience in purchasing procurement activities in the construction industry required. Successful candidate must maintain a valid driver's license.
