Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is a crucial member of our team with an understanding of steam boilers, HVAC/Chiller systems, electrical systems, water filtration systems, and other crucial infrastructures and utilities.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is charged with maintaining all physical utilities and facility infrastructure to ensure seamless Operations within a STERIS Offsite Reprocessing Center (ORC). Offsite Reprocessing Centers are standalone sterile processing facilities where hospitals and healthcare/medical partners can send their surgical instrument trays to be processed for cleaning and/or sterilization.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is entrusted with both preventative and corrective maintenance on all facility systems: structural, mechanical, electrical, utilities, life safety, and plumbing. Additionally, this role entails supporting the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment to meet the evolving needs of STERIS.

This is a 2nd shift position Monday-Friday with occasional weekend coverage.

Duties - Reliability and Maintenance

1. Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on machines, equipment, plant facilities, and grounds. Including:

a. Steam boilers

b. HVAC/Chiller systems

c. Electrical systems

d. Water filtration systems

e. Other utility systems

2. Assure uninterrupted operation and production capabilities.

3. Acts as a back-up in the absence of the Senior Maintenance and Facilities Technician or Supervisor.

4. Regularly monitoring and evaluating systems and processes to assure optimum quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

5. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair all systems as needed to maintain Operations. Assist and oversee contractors and service vendors performing contracted work.

6. Assist with the installation, testing, and validation of new production equipment.

Duties - Safety and Documentation

1. Uphold compliance with all company policies and procedures, particularly those involving safety and quality. Ensure adherence to regulatory body standards and GMP/GDP best practices.

2. Document all performed work, inspections, and maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (eMaint) to maintain accurate records and quality compliance.

3. Ensure adherence to 29 CFR 1910 OSHA General Industrial Safety Standards and 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Standards for facilities services staff and supervised contracted service personnel.

4. Undertake any other functions and tasks as assigned.

5. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, proactively seeking professional and personal development opportunities.

Education Degree

High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

1. Minimum 2+ years relevant experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems, or related military specialty.

2. Experience independently troubleshooting and evaluating equipment failures (1+ years).

3. Experience reading and interpreting documents such as maintenance instructions, manuals, prints, mechanical blueprints, and electrical/pneumatic schematics (1+ years).

4. Ability to read and interpret regulatory and safety guidelines applicable to the industry (1+ years).

5. Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and math skills.

6. Updated knowledge of technical, building operations, basic mechanical systems, and facilities management best practices.

7. Competent in using computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (email/chat, project management, and spreadsheets) and maintenance software.

8. Must possess a valid driver's License.

9. Ability to obtain forklift, aerial lift, and other powered lift system qualifications, as needed.
