Web Developer

Reporting to the Director of Digital Solutions, the Web Developer is responsible for the day-to-day usability, functionality and maintenance of the Alzheimer Society Federation’s web site, sub-sites and intranet using the Drupal CMS. The incumbent must also be knowledgeable on current web technologies and best practices while offering support to our internal and external partners. In addition, the Web Developer responds to user needs, troubleshoots issues as they emerge, and monitors, analyzes and reports on web usage and trends. This incumbent will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team and other internal departments, vendors, and other stakeholders to assist with any technical and digital work in support of initiatives and/or projects.

What You’ll Be Doing

Website Support

Assist the Alzheimer Society of Canada departments by supporting a dynamic, up-to-date website through the Drupalweb content management system (CMS).

Develop and maintain the Society’s national website on an ongoing basis, including (but not limited to): Drupal security updates. Web content updates, developing new CMS template designs, implementing graphic designs, CSS changes, and develop content types as required into the CMS.

Work with third-party developers to implement CMS code changes, including (if applicable) adding, deleting, and refining new features, template changes, graphic designs, content types and CSS updates.

Monitor website usage using Google Analytics, Looker Studio, and other web measurement tools to identify, analyze and report on trends and issues.

Perform QA pre-launch testing with team members and/or third-party developers to identify and/or address issues.

Monitor and manage the national website and Federation sub-sites to ensure brand compliance and web best practices.

Intranet Support

Assist the Digital Solutions/Marketing & Communications team in maintaining a dynamic, up-to-date intranetto meet Federation user needs.

Assist with the posting, editing and updating of content and assist the Web Editor, as needed.

Revise intranet design and content; coordinate regular reviews of content and respond to user feedback.

Administer the password system and update special permissions.

Respond to users’ technical inquiries.

Departmental support

Track information to support department objectives, including metrics, dashboard and KPI reports, as well as third-party and special events.

Assist with responding to various external requests for information or materials.

Your Qualifications and Education

· Bachelor’s or college degree in a related diploma program of study (e.g.: Digital Marketing, Web Design).

· A combination of education and experience will also be considered.

· Experience with web content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, SiteCore, Joomla, Umbraco), editing applications and HTML/HTML5, CSS, php, MySQL, Javascript/jQuery at a level sufficient to make changes or edits to existing site content and adapt previously approved materials to a new campaign or updated page.

· Experience creating and maintaining custom Drupal modules.

· Proven experience and expertise in building websites that comply to AODA and WCAG2.0 standards.

· Experience building large scale company websites from conception through to launch.

· 7+ years experience in a digital marketing, web developer and designer, or digital role

· Working experience with site development utilizing Git, Drush, and Bitbucket

· SharePoint development experience would be an asset.

· Solid knowledge of web hosting environments and server infrastructure.

· Hands-on experience with CRM systems

· Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends and applies them into operations and activities.

· Excellent communications skills with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy

· Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to foster constructive, respectful working relationships with multiple organizational and external stakeholders.

· Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to handle and deliver concurrent tasks on time.

· Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

· Working experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other design applications

· Working experience with the Google 360 Suite, specifically Analytics, Webmaster Tools, Tag Manager, Looker Studio

· Takes initiative, is self-motivated, and works well independently and in a team.

· Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

· Exercises discretion, judgment, and tact in addressing sensitive or confidential information or situations.
