• Render direct nursing care to the patient an assigned by the OPD/ Ward In-charge
• Plan, organize and render comprehensive nursing care
• Utilize available resources in giving patient care
• Ensure comfort of the patient
• Apply scientific principles in giving patient care
• Follow admission protocol while admitting the patient in the ward
• Maintain liaison with patients relations and give them correct information regarding the patient
• Administer all the drugs according to standing order of the hospital
• Ensure sending of laboratory specimen for investigation
• Take proper care of patients personnel belongings
• Render pre and post-operative care
• Take rounds with doctors and report the patient condition
• Maintain various records like intake, output chart, medication drainage etc.
• Assist doctors in carrying out treatment e.g: BT, LP and other procedures
• Give report to the ward sister regarding patient’s condition
• Ensure proper sterilization and disinfection of the equipment according to the requirements
• While working in any special unit, need to handle special gadgets with adequate training e.g: ECG monitors, ventilators, infusion pump in ICU
• Maintain stock
• Carry last office in case of dying patient with reverence
• Render adequate death care including adequate reporting, recording handling and dealing with the patients relations and give due respect to the relative of the patients
• Within half an hour shift the body to mortuary, after settling the bill hand over the body to the relatives
• If medico legal cases hand over the body to the police
• Give necessary health education to the patient along with explanations regarding follow-up care recommendation on the discharge
• Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the patient, patients family and other staff
• Ensure the discharge protocol is implemented
