What we do:
The Intelligent Systems (IS) team is responsible for designing and implementing reliable decision-making systems. Our focus is on creating solutions that can make decisions under dynamic constraints while prioritizing safety and efficiency. The Lead Autonomy SW Architect plays a crucial role in creating end-to-end Supernal Autonomy systems, which enable UAM to implement automated missions. They will also be involved in the development of our Autonomy SW platform and applications. The Lead Autonomy SW Architect's responsibilities include system integration, communication with stakeholders, and defining solutions that align with IS strategies and processes. They will also lead the operations and development teams in designing, developing, and implementing autonomy software systems using agile methodology.
What you can do:
Take a comprehensive view of the projects within the IS team and align them with Supernal's overarching vision for eVTOL products
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate autonomy systems with aviation technologies
Collaborate with personnel to harmonize and establish which platforms, languages, frameworks, libraries, tools, and other technologies should be used in the development of intelligent systems
Ensure the IS team follows best practices, coding standards, and technical requirements
Design and implement impactful, reliable, and secure SW systems, and solutions tailored to meet IS needs
Develop and document comprehensive architecture blueprints outlining the configuration, integration, and implementation details
Evaluate existing IS systems and infrastructure to find opportunities for optimization and enhancement
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability using techniques like containerization and orchestration
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to make informed decisions
Implement robust security measures to safeguard systems, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability assessments
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to security
Perform capacity/performance/power planning to anticipate future platform requirements
Design scalable solutions that can handle increasing calculation workloads efficiently
Create detailed technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Provide training and knowledge transfer to IS staff regarding standard processes and methodologies
Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan
Up to 10% of domestic and international travel

What you can contribute:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, robotics, electrical engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum ten (10) years of experience in software engineering, tools, methods, and the performance optimization process (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Experience in a senior technical role with extensive experience in Linux software development both in User Space, Kernel, and BSP development
Strong software development skills
Proficiency in C/C++ family programming languages and scripting languages, such as Python
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
Familiarity with certifiable standards like ARINC 653 RTOS and ARINC 615A preferred
Familiarity with STIG, FACE, SDL/SSDF, FIP, and other security standards preferred
Experience with MATLAB and Simulink to model dynamics systems and to create, process, analyze, and visually represent data preferred
Familiarity with autonomy algorithms (Sense and Avoid, Autonomous Taxi/ Take Off and Landing, etc.) for driving control laws preferred
Familiarity with LucidChart, Enterprise Architect, or other software architecture tools of choice preferred
Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.
The pay range for this position is:
$204,200—$260,700 USD
