THE OPPORTUNITY

WIN House has a need for a Community Engagement Specialist to increase community engagement and third-party events. This role will report to the Director of Development and is responsible for working with donors, volunteers, partners, and other stakeholders for third-party events. This position works on fundraising and finding new third-party prospects and is part of a team that works on development initiatives for the organization and will support the team in reaching its annual financial goals. This position will oversee and manage temporary student positions from time to time.

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will contribute to the strategic plans and goals of the Development Team, support the development and execution of effective third-party donation and volunteer projects, as well as oversee all volunteer activities. You will act as an effective team member providing backup and support to team members as required, including completion of special projects or other duties as assigned. You will be expected to attend and facilitate events and actively participate in organizational working groups or committee meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Engagement and Collaboration

Collaborate and communicate effectively with senior leadership and staff.

Contribute to Development Team plans, strategies, goals, and objectives.

Develop a solid understanding of organizational objectives, operations, and priorities.

Act as an effective team member of the Development Team, providing backup and support to team members as required.

Attend, participate, and actively engage in working groups, committees, and meetings.

Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.

Third-party events

Support the development and execution of effective third-party donation and volunteer projects, initiatives, and activities.

Develop, monitor, and oversee third-party engagement and activities according to approved guidelines and provide advice and guidance.

Attend, facilitate, and support events, engagements, and activities.

Volunteer Management

Responsible for the planning, execution and oversight of the Volunteer Plan, Program and Policy.

Recruit, manage, and recognize volunteers.

Collect, store, manage, and securely destroy volunteer information as per guidelines and policy.

Fundraising

Collaborate with team members to manage donation inventories based on organizational needs.

Support fundraising goals by facilitating donations made through third-party events.

FIRST YEAR – MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Support all third-party events, executing them effectively, and working with multiple stakeholders and teams both internally and externally.

Increase third-party events by 20% with assistance from students.

The implementation of a new volunteer platform that is successfully utilized.

Development of clear and concise workflows and processes for third-party events for donors.

Successful management of volunteers and students.

THE INDIVIDUAL

Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, the successful candidate must possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:

Education

Post-secondary degree in a related field or combination of relevant training, education, and experience.

Experience

3+ years of experience in stakeholder relations and community engagement.

Experience in building relationships, influencing people, and bringing them together in community and/or for events.

Experience in fundraising and event planning.

Experience working with donors and volunteers.

Competencies and Knowledge

Exceptional interpersonal skills for team collaboration, vendor coordination, and for working with volunteers and at events.

Networking capabilities and great at forming relationships that build bridges with people, communities, and stakeholders.

Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities meeting deadlines in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment.

A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to conduct research and create reports or presentations.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite, Mind Mapping, planning software, online survey platforms, and meeting scheduling tools.
