The Childhood League Center, a licensed early childhood education program, has an exciting opportunity for a Teacher Assistant to assist the preschool teaching team in the daily function of classroom management. We seek a high-energy, collaborative, flexible and creative professional with excellent communication skills. This is a school year position with winter and spring breaks.
Job Responsibilities:
Assists teaching team in an inclusive classroom with children with and without special needs
Lead small group experiences
Provide educational support for all children in classroom: provide guidance, lead small groups, attend to children’s needs
Actively participate with teaching team in educational planning
Collaborate and communicate with team members to integrate educational and therapeutic strategies into classroom experience
Prepare and adapt materials for use in the classroom
Help establish a positive learning environment
Maintain classroom routines and organization
Implement and maintain program policies
Collect data and portfolio development related to assessment, Individual Educational Plan (IEP) progress reports and all goals
Participate in professional development
Attend staff meetings, team meetings, parent conferences and other meetings as needed
Miscellaneous duties as needed including, but not limited to, duty for lunch/recess/cleaning
Requirements:
CPL 2 required, with CPL 3 preferred
High School diploma required
CDA or Bachelor Degree in a related field preferred, with preference of the latter
One to two years recent experience working in a classroom setting with children with special needs required
Must be able to lift, carry, push/pull fifty (50) pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of up to fifty (50) pounds; stooping, bending, twisting, sitting on floor for long periods of time. Will be required to move/lift/relocate pieces of adaptive equipment, also must be able to lift physically handicapped and non-ambulatory students – required
Successful completion of a background check (BCII & FBI) and drug screen required
