Summary

Directly oversees the operation of the drilling site, including running the drilling rig, directing and supervising the crew, delegating responsibilities and tasks and ensuring the rig is kept in an operable condition in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale and

teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section.

All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the

weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following list includes essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Perform

all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by Department,

Division and Weisinger Inc. Management and Board of Directors.

Responsible for basic maintenance of drilling rig including mud tanks, mud pump, draw works, dog house, engine, handling tools and supporting equipment (including crew truck, forklift, gravel machine, etc) before, during and after shift. Take care during operations to leave equipment in clean, operable condition.

Assist with and ensure derrick hand maintains, diagnoses problems with, completely. Rebuilds and maintains at least one full set of parts for the mud pump.

Personally leave and ensure crew leaves vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition. Immediately report all maintenance issues to drilling operations manager, which includes asking to have broken tools repaired/replaced. Discontinue use of broken items and dispose of broken tools that cannot be repaired.

Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and

regulations.

If employee maintains a commercial driver’s license, complete driver vehicle inspection.

reports before and after operating commercially regulated vehicles. Submit inspection.

reports after each shift. It is the employee’s responsibility to review weight limits and monitor hours of service for compliance.

Operate and ensure crew operates supporting equipment such as the crew truck, fork lift and gravel machine.

When moving equipment, observe job site and assist as needed to prevent damage and destruction of equipment or property.

Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches.

Ensure all tools, spare parts, equipment, materials, and supplies are stored and cared for.

Responsible for basic housekeeping including but not limited to disposing of garbage.

Operate cutting torch as needed.

Display willingness to learn about drilling program and to operate drilling rig under

direct supervision of driller.

Follow all safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures.

Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.

Must carry Weisinger Incorporated-issued phone and be readily available to report to work as

needed at all times.

Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in other roles or in

another department as needed.

Qualifications

Special Equipment Skills

Ability to develop a working knowledge of basic analytical equipment including:

• Water analyzers

• Filter press

• Scales

• Litmus tests

• Testing reagents

• Clock

• Viscosity cup

• Voltmeter

• Meg-o-meter

• Deviation tool

Computer Skills

Ability to develop a working knowledge of basic electronic mail software such as Microsoft Outlook and

word processing software such as Microsoft Office Word preferred

Other Skills and Abilities

• Mechanically inclined

• Previous manual labor experience and ability to operate a tractor, backhoe or forklift preferred

Physical Demands

• Balance and stability is required.

• Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift and/or

move up to 50 pounds.

• Regularly required to climb heights of up to 100 feet; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach

with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, assisted.

• Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color and ability to adjust focus required.

• This position requires full use of arms and back, and is comprised of repetitive motions.

• Stamina is required as employees may routinely work physically demanding shifts of up to omore than 12 hours per shift, 7 days a week.

• Compliance with 37 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 4 (which includes but is not limited to

satisfactory Texas Department of Transportation physical exam and random drug testing)

required if employee maintains CDL
