Head Teacher / Academic Coordinator

Maple Bear Uzbekistan is seeking an Head Teacher / Academic Coordinator who will help in building a distinguished culture of a high-quality English-speaking kindergarten that follows an award-winning Canadian education curriculum and prepares its students to become successful in their future academic pursuits in the best international and local schools in Uzbekistan or abroad.

Maple Bear Kindergarten in Tashkent is part of the fully vertically integrated educational precinct that comprising a university (British Management University, opened in 2020) and K-12 Maple Bear Global School (opening in September 2024). We are located on a beautiful 25-acre / 10-hectare large property on the easter side of Tashkent with the view of the mountains.

The Head Teacher / Academic Coordinator will report directly to the School Principal and will be responsible for:

• Ensuring the proper implementation of the Canadian curriculum under the guidance of Maple Bear educators;

• Monitoring students’ progress and communicating it to their parents via report cards and assessment reports; coordinating parent-teacher conferences;

• Assisting the Principal with recruitment and hiring of teaching staff;

• Supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring and training

• Maintaining a friendly and supportive work and learning environment;

• Approving the curriculum planning reports, performing various administrative duties as requested by the Principal;

• Managing a clean and sanitized environment across KG in concurrence with the Maple Bear curriculum standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Four-year university degree with ECE (early childhood education) / NTT (nursery teachers’ training) qualifications and/or a B.Ed. degree or higher

• Minimum 5 years of excellent teaching experience at the kindergarten / primary school level

• Native English speaker with excellent communication skills

Country of origin is not critical but knowledge of / experience in the Canadian education system is a plus

DESIRED EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

• Some international experience is highly desired

• Experience in educational leadership and administration is preferable

• Personal qualities: positive, emotionally intelligent, hard-working, willing to share knowledge, professional, pro-active attitude, passionate about teaching
