Job Description

Primary Objective of Position

Coordinates purchasing activities of raw materials, supplies, and services, consistent with the Company’s business plan, budgets, requirements, and procurement policies and within the scope of authority. Plans, forecasts and uses new technologies to control costs and identify potential expense reductions opportunities. Provides critical support for the Supply Chain & Operations functions by analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on key data and processes.

Gathers data, analyzes trends and reports out on performance for various activities in the Supply Chain and Operations departments. Uses independent judgment to provide critical analysis. This position may also participate and assist in providing root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Coordinates with Sales, Manufacturing, and Scheduling to ensure adequate supply and timely delivery and procurement of raw materials. Maintains inventory of materials and supplies by managing re-order points and order quantity on a continuous basis.

Supports new and substitute materials where appropriate which may offer opportunities for price breaks. Develops a favorable and ongoing working relationship with key suppliers to ensure reasonable pricing and service level required by the Company. Supports negotiations on raw material pricing.

Collaborates with the Supply Chain and Operations team to evaluate processes and assist in implementing solutions to meet the business needs of the Company.

Supports the disposition of obsolete materials. Manages the assigned commodity inventory cycle counts. Evaluates transactions to resolve count discrepancies and maintain cycle counting records.

Updates and maintains database to ensure correct pricing.

Reviews MRP and requisitions to focus on combining purchase orders where possible and forecasts future purchasing needs to gain the best possible purchase price. Places purchase orders for direct raw materials.

Places and tracks CEA orders.

Supports resolution on invoices, quality concerns, receiving discrepancies, etc with other functional departments.

Supports vendor evaluations in reference to vendor pricing, service, on time delivery and quality. This evaluation is reviewed with strategic suppliers and used for the selection of suppliers for future business and provides basis for corrective action if needed.

Supports Intek Plastics, Inc. policies and procedures and conducts departmental and Company activities in accordance with these policies.

Leads and assists in projects as assigned by Supply Chain Manager and other duties as assigned. Keeps the Supply Chain Manager informed of matters relating to purchasing, pricing, and supplier relations.

Every employee is expected to support the INTEK Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with our Quality System Manual and Documented Procedures.

Performs other accountabilities as apparent or assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience.

APICS certification preferred.

Experience

Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement experience.

Experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Minimum 4 years of experience in a Supply Chain, Buyer or Data Analyst role.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Proven problem-solving abilities and analytical skills including a strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities to ensure superior customer satisfaction. Must have the ability to work and make decision independently.

Responsibility for Work of Others

This position requires no direct supervision of others.

Physical Requirements

Ability to occasionally lift (weekly) up to 25 pounds and rarely lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, twist and carry tools or materials over the course of 8 – 10 hour shift.

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
