The main purpose of the Service Engineer is to support the Service Department Team Leader with a varied workload both in our UK locations and on show site. The key areas are repair and upgrade of rental inventory both mechanical and electronic.

Qualifications

• An Electronics background with advanced soldering abilities on SMD printed circuit boards is desirable. • A good understanding of repairing automated lighting fixtures within a warehouse environment is preferable.• Ability to solder fine pitch integrated circuits.• Capable of reading and understanding electronic schematics.• Ability to fault find and repair PCB’s to component level without the use of automated test equipment.• Experienced in repairing SMPS, ballasts and complex digital boards.• Ability to maintain a safe, clean and hazard-free environment and understand and comply with the Company’s Health and Safety Rules.• Ability to follow and constructively work alongside others as required, contributing towards team efficiency.• Positive attitude, with a desire to learn and progress within the Company.• Reliable and Accountable: Willing to take to responsibility and ensure all tasks are fulfilled as required.• Good computer skills including all Microsoft Office applications.• Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to be proactive.• Willingness to treat others with respect and participate in fostering a friendly, welcoming working environment.• Positive attitude to additional duties and new challenges.• Ensure communications are clear and effective in order to facilitate cooperation and teamwork across the business.• Emphasis will be placed on the PRG Company values attached to this document.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Service Department Team Leader with prioritising repair, based on utilisation or upcoming orders.• Identify electronic and mechanical faults with products to enable repair.• Establish and maintain close links with vendors to ensure best practice approach and update test procedures when the new faults become apparent.• Update Service software systems to ensure that complete and accurate records are maintained.• Fulfil routine maintenance and repair of equipment alongside the relevant departments.• Assist with training and mentoring other members of the team.• Carry out regulatory compliance testing as appropriate.• Work alongside team members and across departments constructively.• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under your own initiative.• Keep up to date with the latest fixtures and technology.• Ensure the LEAN process is adhered to at all times.• Keep work areas and the department area clean and organised.• Assist in the undertaking of stock cycle counts with the department when scheduled.• Apply safe lifting practices at all times.• Work at other PRG locations and customer sites as required and often at short notice. • Ensure that the Company's policies, procedures and obligations are adhered to in carrying out all duties.
