Job description
The Manager Maintenance, Asset Leader is responsible for all aspects of maintenance execution for the Acetate Tow Unit on the Celanese Narrows VA Site. The Asset Leader will manage the entire maintenance work process from job notification through the completion of the work, and ensure that all work is completed in a safe and cost effective way that results in flawless production reliability.
Responsibilities - SQRE (Stewardship, Quality, Reliability and Engagement)
Stewardship
Ensure all maintenance is executed safely, according to Celanese policies and industry best practices
Actively participates as a core team member in PHAs, MOCs
Prioritize and champion maintenance work that supports great stewardship, e.g. safety notifications
Quality
Ensures maintenance activities support key product quality requirements of the Tow Unit
Production/Reliability
Owns the Tow Unit maintenance budget and gatekeeper of maintenance spending
Accurately forecasts maintenance spending requirements and makes appropriate accruals for the plant controller
Owns the maintenance schedule and integrates with the production schedule for the day and week
Ensures emerging equipment reliability and maintenance issues are identified, prioritized and addressed
Reviews and supports maintenance performed by the 24/7 Team
Oversees the execution of the daily maintenance plan in coordination with the Daily Execution Leader
Coordinates with other Unit Teams to ensure maintenance resources are available
Coordinates with the Manufacturing Services team for any centralized maintenance crafts needed to meet the maintenance schedule
Addresses performance issues with the Core Maintenance Team and the Manufacturing Expert - Asset Optimizer
Responsible for the system ensuring proper maintenance handoff of repaired equipment back to the 24/7 Team
Coordinates asset strategy repairs/replacement with Unit Leader and Capital Project Owner
Tracks long-lead time parts and develops plans or solutions to mitigate risks based on unit needs and performance
Coordinates turn-arounds including scope development, schedule development, planned downtime and return to service commitments
Optimizes maintenance schedules to resolve conflicts with resources or priority changes
Approves maintenance strategies for equipment, both short and long term
Engagement
Models employee engagement and displays a can-do attitude
Is willing to take on any work in support of the Tow Team’s success
Develops and mentors people according to key abilities and attributes
Actively engages with the Unit Leader, Daily Execution Leaders and Technology leader to ensure that optimum unit outcomes are achieved
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Demonstrated track record of success and minimum 10 years’ experience in the maintenance field, heavy construction industry or other related field
Excellent communication with cross functional teams
Ability to think holistically and to balance changing production demands, equipment reliability and cost
Agility to respond to emerging issues
High stress tolerance for a demanding production environment
Is friendly, optimistic, level-headed and smart. Must have common sense, technical reasoning, mechanical aptitude and must be willing to go the extra mile to ensure that optimum business outcomes are achieved.
Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
