Job Overview: As our Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for various accounting functions for The South Bend Kroc Center as well as assisting with other accounting and finance special projects as needed.

What You Will Do: * Prepare accounting transactions as required to maintain the general ledger.

Includes accounts receivable, payables, billing, purchase orders, and monthly reconciliations * Ensure proper classification, coding, and functionalization of transactions * Enter and process payable and receivable transactions and assist in providing staff with inquiries * Review and process department purchase orders for leadership to review * Assist with purchasing process as needed * Prepare bank reconciliation for Business Director to review * Prepare monthly sales tax report * Assist Officers, GM, and Business Director in budget preparation and enter approved budget in accounting system * Prepare work papers and schedules for internal and external auditors.

Assist with answering audit questions as needed * Provide back up to Business Director when needed * Other tasks as assigned by leadership Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Accounting degree required.

Four-year degree in accounting preferred Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: One year experience processing accounts payable, receivables, and bank reconciliations.

Experience in not-for-profit accounting a plus Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment Skills/Abilities: * Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele * Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems * Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) * Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines * Be self-motivated with strong organization skills * Help direct the work of others in the department Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the duties of this job.
