Foundation Engineer
Job Summary:

Your work will involve partnering with an engineering team and customers to define the scope and needs of specific projects. You will then translate the needs assessment into strategic project designs that accomplish business goals while adhering to financial budget and timeline guidelines. You will take on design responsibilities, analysis, drafting, design review for compliance and safety adherence, and customer contract requirements. Work may occasionally require some evening and weekend hours.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Apply your knowledge in designing foundations for ARRAY trackers
Apply national and international building codes, standards, and engineering principles to analyze and design foundations for solar power plant applications
Analyze the terrain and topography of the site to adapt to the structural and mechanical parameters of the ARRAY trackers and develop grading requirements for cut & fill using Civil 3D.
Prepare Pile plans with 3D coordinates (x, y, z)
Evaluate electrochemical test data for corrosion analysis
Evaluate impact on foundations from Frost Heave due to adfreeze force
Evaluate impact on foundations from of expansive soils, collapsible soils, sand dunes etc.
Calculate design life of foundations using corrosion standards (DIN 50929, FHWA, AS2159)
Support Business Development Managers, Applications Engineers by providing technical expertise in foundations.
Interface with clients and work with engineering counterparts
Develop “Pile Load Testing” specifications
Develop Geotechnical Testing for solar power plant
Analyze Pile Load Testing results for foundation design
Manage 3rd Party Geotechnical Engineering companies to execute pile testing and geotechnical investigations
Manage 3rd Party Foundation Engineering companies to execute foundation designs, drawings and grading plans
Prepare design submittals for foundation calculations and drawings
Site visits during Pile Load Testing, Construction stage
Provide technical support to the customer on design, drawings, calculations and product related discussions
Provide timely responses to Request for Information (RFI) from customer
Troubleshoot, analyze and provide remediation solutions for pile refusal, soft soils, settlement, heave etc.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil, geotechnical discipline
Minimum 5 years of foundation engineering designs and geotechnical engineering
Minimum 5 years’ experience in foundation design software (LPILE, ALLPILE)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Civil 3d, topographical analysis
Working knowledge of codes and standards (EUROCODE, AISC, AUS Standards)
Experience in corrosion and electrochemistry of soils (DIN 50929, FHWA, AS2159)
Experience in Pile Designs and Pile Testing
Experience in Geotechnical laboratory testing
Preferred qualifications:
Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other engineers
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Familiarity with international geotechnical codes and standards
Experience in the solar industry or wind industry
