This positon is responsible for check in and registration of patients at the Department of OB/GYN Princess Anne, Jones Institute, Maternal Fetal Medicine, OB Generalist, and Urogynecology office. Includes Medical Records duties as assigned.

This position is located in Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities

Front Desk:

Check in and register patients.

Confirm and update patient registration information at each visit.

Scan insurance card and picture ID into EMR system at each visit.

Collect all co-pays and payments and complete cash journals daily.

Obtain authorizations and referrals from referring physician’s offices.

Scheduling of incoming referrals in a timely manner.

Answering telephone in accordance with Medical Group Standards.

Communicating with patients regarding self-pay agreements.

Complete EHR tasks in accordance with Medical Group Standards.

Invite patients to patient portal (Follow My Health) and update status in the EHR.

Re-invite and assist patients with FMH issues/questions.

Monitor and resolve FMH patient registration issues through FMH Dashboard.

Medical Records:

Prepare charts for services 2 days prior to service date.

Provide correct labels for charts.

Check insurance eligibility using Availity and Medicaid online resources.

Send tasks for all preauthorization needed.

Monitor and respond to medical records voicemails messages.

Scan documents into appropriate charts daily.

Responds to Release of Information requests in accordance with the Medical Group HIPAA Compliance Policies.

Check Medical Records tasks in accordance with Medical Group Standards.

Compliance with Policies and Procedures within the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine,

OB/GYN, and EVMS Policies and Procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned, according to the individual departmental needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be highly organized with outstanding customer service attitude and have the ability to adapt and work under pressure. Prior experience working in a medical office setting highly desired but not required.
