The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for one or more visiting faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level, to start in August 2024. These are a one-year, non-tenure track positions with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Candidates are expected to show an outstanding record, strong interest and an ability in teaching a diverse student body.

Responsibilities:

• Teach four undergraduate courses per semester, utilizing dynamic instructional techniques to facilitate student comprehension and engagement.

• Integrate technology, such as interactive software and digital resources, to enhance the learning experience and promote active participation.

• Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical exploration.

• Mentor and advise students, providing guidance and support to help them achieve their academic and career goals.

Qualifications:

· Ph.D. in Mathematics or related field.

· Demonstrated expertise in teaching Calculus classes to students in all engineering and science majors at the undergraduate level, with a commitment to excellence in pedagogy.

· Proficiency in utilizing technology, including interactive whiteboards, graphing calculators, mathematical software (e.g., MATLAB, Mathematica), and online learning platforms.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2023 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public properly within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
