Floor Technician/Housekeeper Bookmark this Posting Print Preview Apply for this Job Position Details Position Information Position Title Floor Technician/Housekeeper Position Number S052PD Branch Student Life (BR) Division Facilities Management (DIV) Department Housekeeping Location Jackson FLSA Non-Exempt Job Summary This position is responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting) areas that include offices, classrooms, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas of the University.

This position is also responsible for general housekeeping responsibilities, including cleaning windows and restrooms, dusting furniture, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the interior of the campus.

Essential Job Duties * Provide carpet maintenance (both routine and preventive); including but not limited to vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery.

* Perform floor care, including routine mopping (dry and damp), buffing, and burnishing on hard surface floors.

* Scrub floors to remove all soil and finish to the base of floor material.

* Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures.

* Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to manufacture direction, policy, and procedure.

* Operate/assist in maintaining cleaning equipment, such as extractors, buffers, auto scrubbers, and burnishers.

* Perform other required housekeeping duties as assigned by supervisor, including dusting (high and low), routine restroom cleaning, routine office and/or restroom cleaning.

* Wash trash bins and trash cash regularly, as needed.

Other Job Duties Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent is desirable, but not required.

This position requires the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.

A valid Tennessee Driver's License is required.

Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated floor technician experience.
