Support Center - Irving

Under the supervision of the Design Manager, the Designer works as part of an in-house marketing team to achieve business objectives through the effective use of graphic design principles. The Designer is responsible for creating innovative, high-quality work aligned with brand standards and contributing to the team’s creative excellence. As an effective problem-solver and conceptual thinker, they develop compelling creative solutions that achieve business objectives. The Designer takes ownership of project details, timelines, and creative solutions, incorporating feedback and creative direction to enhance their work.

Major Activities

Design for a broad range of channels, including email, social media, website, and print, ensuring deliverables adhere to the brand look & feel and translate into integrated, visually compelling solutions.

Conceptualize and develop creative solutions for marketing campaigns, adapting content to meet the requirements of the media channel.

Understand and elevate the Michaels brand through effective photography selection, curating images that enhance the design while meeting project objectives.

Ensure that deliverables translate into cohesive designs for web, mobile, social media, in-store, and other channels. Employ graphic standards and interactive best practices.

Build and execute creative assets from layout to final release. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, fulfilling all responsibilities and milestone requirements for assigned projects.

Collaborate with marketing partners, writers, and creative leadership to translate creative briefs into compelling creative solutions that are clear, compelling, and meet stated objectives.

Provide clear direction and collaborate effectively with photo art directors, animators, and video editors to create work that represents brand and style criteria.

Actively listen to creative critique and demonstrate understanding through successful application to projects. Execute revisions with a high level of accuracy.

Attend meetings for project kickoff, creative huddle, and presentation review for all assignments.

Present work to creative leadership and other cross-functional partners, persuasively communicating designs & creative strategies to gain support.

Research creative trends in competitive markets and apply that knowledge and learning to Michaels' assets.

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree - Design or Advertising

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

Adobe Creative Suite: proficiency in After Effects, XD, and InDesign; advanced expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

3+ years of relevant design experience.

Portfolio demonstrating creative and strategic strength.

Conceptual thinker with the ability to develop multiple design solutions.

Effective problem solver who seeks out and responds to feedback and creative direction.

Strong organizational, problem-analysis, decision-making, and communication skills.

Manage multiple projects while meeting demanding deadlines, producing high-quality work, and demonstrating a positive attitude.

Other skills include project management and production skills.
