Role Description

POSITION SUMMARY

This position has direct responsibility for the planning, organization, direction, performance and control of all logistics and operational activities in Kalamazoo, Portage, and Battle Creek, MI. The role ensures compliance with established productivity, performance, budget, quality, security, Human Resources (HR), Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), customer service standards, and company policies and regulations (local/state/federal/international).

The responsibility includes the management and development of colleagues and contracted resources, maintaining a high level of engagement and accountability to achieve expected results. This position focuses on action-oriented continuous improvement activities and the implementation of best practices, as well as the management and monitoring of financial performance to ensure corrective actions are taken to achieve established targets.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Define and implement specific strategic plans for the warehouse in accordance with the global strategic guidelines of the Supply Chain department.

Ensure logistics and warehouse operations comply with finance, security, Facilities Management (FM), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards and regulations.

Define, maintain, and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to control the performance and competitiveness of the warehouse.

Establish an influential relationship with intercompany team to support site objectives as well as incoming freight deliveries.

Responsible for annual budget process and achieve successful results by promoting and improving cost control measures.

Responsible for the management and coordination of three separate warehouses which interact and coordinate daily operations.

Collaboration with warehouse team members to develop and implement continuous improvement plans for the logistics flow.

Define and implement eco-solutions in logistics to impact and promote sustainability.

Hire, develop, and retain team members.

Responsible for the warehouse inventory processes, including physical cycle counting.

Define and plan for logistical emergencies to effectively prioritize and resolve operational and/or management challenges.

Ensure the correct training is assigned and completed in a timely manner by all staff members.

Ensure the execution of the correct maintenance and compliance with all warehouse standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Responsible for overall housekeeping and maintenance of the facility.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated strengths in the following capabilities: leadership, operational management, data and financial analysis, supply chain, decision-making, critical-thinking and technical skills pertaining to logistics, negotiating, and conflict resolution.

Strong working knowledge of SAP.

Experience with Lean Six Sigma principles and tools.

Knowledge of Import/Export and Foreign Trade Zone regulations.

Demonstrated record of innovation, focus on performance, change management, continuous improvement, and development/implementation of best practices.

Track record of understanding and meeting customer and market needs.

Proven history of effective performance management, coaching, and mentoring of team members.

Demonstrated record of achievement of objectives and proven demonstration and commitment to the Zoetis Core Beliefs.

Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ability to learn Zoetis systems.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, or Logistics.

Logistic experience with the military is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain or Logistics.

Multi-lingual preferred.

Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Motivated, self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to values-based leadership and achieving objectives in a manner that is supportive of the Zoetis Core Beliefs.

Demonstrated leadership, management, and technical capabilities.

Demonstrated ability to interact with various levels of the Zoetis organization.

Experience in the Pharmaceutical or Animal Health industry is a plus.

Required travel about 5% of time.

Limited weekend or off-shift work may be required from time-to-time.

While performing the duties of this job, the colleague is regularly exposed to both office settings and a manufacturing environment, including moving mechanical parts. The work conditions for this position are 50% stationary and 50% standing and walking throughout the workday. The colleague may be required to travel < 40 miles/day to multiple warehouses. Potential for domestic and/or international travel up to 10%. The colleague will be required to utilize certain Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to, hard hats, safety (“steel-toed”) shoes, eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing.
