Description of Responsibilities

Introduction

The responsibilities listed define the minimum expectations of Canyon Hills Friends Church for the position of Equipping Pastor - Adult Ministries. Our desire is that the Equipping Pastor - Adult Ministries will work not only to maintain the current standard, but also strive to expand the quality of the church office and its procedures, for the glory of God and the expansion of His Kingdom.

Ministry Team Communication and Relationship - The Equipping Pastor - Adult Ministries shall:

Meet with the pastoral staff (weekly) for coordination of ministries, communication of plans, Ministry Team relationship building and prayer support.

Make every effort to be an encouraging, supportive, loyal and affirming Ministry Team member.

Make every effort to create a healthy relational environment, by encouraging those with concerns to talk with the right people, at the right time, with the right spirit, following the principles of Matthew 18.

Position Responsibilities:

The Equipping Pastor - Adult Ministries will work alongside our Lead Pastor and other Equipping Pastors to help develop services and ministries for Canyon Hills Friends Church. List of ministries will be assigned by the Lead Pastor.

They will acknowledge that his work is enabled by the Holy Spirit, supported by prayer, guided by Scripture, and carried out in the name of Jesus Christ for the glory of God the Father. He/she will provide Biblical direction and leadership so that members are built up in faith and maturity to become more like Christ. Other duties include:

Proactively model and implement creative ways to effectively communicate church-wide mission. The Equipping Pastor - Adult Ministries will:

Lead church related ministries.

Be an effective communicator and faithful to exegetical sermon preparation that leads the church to understand God’s truths and how to apply them to their daily lives.

Participate in Service Planning Meetings.

Be willing to lead others in understanding God’s Word through home groups or Bible studies.

Work with the Lead Pastor to articulate and fulfill the vision and mission of CHFC Family.

Continue to clarify and highlight the vision and mission of the church through the Sunday morning worship experience.

Collaborate in strategic planning with the Lead Pastor and Staff to implement CHFC vision and mission into tangible implementation of discipleship training.

Understand the importance of technology in current culture, and leverage technology to empower the digital church into physical mobilization.

Embrace FAMILY as a core value of CHFC Family and help to nurture and cultivate a multi-generational church that ministers to our city.

Be able to provide short-term counseling as needed

Be accessible and responsive to crisis situations and hospital visitations.

Be available to officiate or coordinate church ceremonies; including, but not limited to, baptisms, weddings, and funerals. This will be at the senior pastor’s discretion.

Equip, educate, and edify the church as mandated in Ephesians 4:11-13.

Be accountable to Lead Pastor and Elder Board.

Participate in weekly Sabbath rest and seasonal renewal; and continue to grow as a follower of Christ through a continuing education plan for skill building and self- improvement.

Model transparency and have mentors who are speaking into his life and leadership.

GENERAL SKILLS:

Be proficient in the computer and social media skills necessary for accomplishing tasks and leading others in a digital age.

Have strong oral and written communication skills.

Have effective time management skills.

Have an ability to build partnerships in mission and ministry through unifying others.

Be emotionally mature in interpersonal relationships; with strong problem solving, conflict resolution, and listening skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Have beliefs that are in line with CHFC & Friends Southwest doctrinal statements.

Have a desire to remain in long-term ministry with CHFC Family

Have a history of faithful ministry experience.

A Master of Divinity degree is preferred, but not required. Appropriate experience in ministry and church leadership will also be considered.

Equip leaders for their specific area of ministry.

Resource leaders for their ministry.

Encourage leaders throughout their ministry.
